redundant topic bout suspension but....

I know this has been discussed a million times but I just want a straightforward answer, I wanna get a new suspension to lower my max about 2 inches at most. From what I have gathered reading all the discussions about it theres very limited options, I just want to know what brands to look for as far as quality goes. Sorry for beating a dead horse but its still unclear what I need to look for and what I can realistically get away with.

Tein H-tech springs are some of the best you can get and pair them with Tokico blues and your suspension will be more responsive but not unreasonable for a DD

that would be a nice DD setup...If either company made these products for the 3rd gen, which they don't....

Tein has never made springs for the 3rdgen, and tokico no longer produces struts for the 3rd gen...

tein doesn't make 3rd gen springs. you only got 2 brands, b&g and i forgot the other. blues are available for the rear if they can be found. i figured the same that they would have enough market support but its dying fast

So b&g is one brand.....I'm guessing it would be stupid to try to find some shocks on eBay since there's a lot of crap that floats around there?

Tokico and Koni made struts for 3rd gens that were perfect for dropping on, both companies discontinued them for 3rd gens. a few years ago i checked all of the US and Canada and nobody had any leftover stock so i dropped on KYB struts

B&G, Ksport, and Eibach springs are still the ones floating around. Eibachs have become more scarce in the last few years but i think some online stores still have them. i got my Ksport GT off of Ebay but its a large drop for 3rd gens, oilpan is barely off the ground

best bet is to find some Eibach springs and sell your left nut for a used set of Koni or Tokico struts if they ever pop up

How big of a drop? I found some b&g springs on eBay for about 235 with a 1.6 drop, seems pretty reasonable, I didn't want to go past two inches after reading about how the 3rd gens start scraping after that

2.2 inches in the front and 2 inches in the back, i had to hit speedbumps at a angle very slowly or else i would scrape bad. in winter it scraped everywhere and was nearly undriveable lol

looked good and handled really well though

That's what I want to avoid is scraping everywhere, but if it does look sweet I might be able to compromise lol

Pretty sure ksports are what I put on my first 3rd gen I had back in 2007. The whole front end on that car was worn out or warped so I had nothing to lose. Decided to just do the fronts (backs are still in my attic). Couldn't even go through an automatic car wash.

Is that your car lowered? Doesn't seem that low at all?

his post said he only did the fronts. The rear fenders naturally are lower than the fronts (even on stock springs), so that's why when you lower the car 2" the rear wheels tuck and the fronts don't.

That was an old car i dont own any more. The rear is stock, front is too low. Not very functional for a daily. I'm 35 now, and while being low still looks cool on my 240 that I pretty much only take to the mountains, I dont want to duplicate what I did on that ghetto cruiser pictured above.

Does the b&g brand one ride a little higher than that?

I'd love to drop my car an inch and a half in the front and be done with it.

but the thing about dropping is that when you drop you have to also change the spring rate. So just putting lower/stiffer springs on the front and leaving the stockers on the back would cause the back to be much softer than the front, and could have some weird handling results, perhaps making the classic FWD oversteer worse. Same idea as how you put a stiff rear swaybar on a FWD car, to allow the front to be compliant and grippy, while the rear is holding the car flat.

You can try and find some eibachs which are 1.2" then find a way to jack the back up by an inch. At last that way the handling would be balanced.

A 1.6 inch drop from those b&gs seems reasonable, I must say though my car does seem like its already dropped but I know for sure those shocks are stock. It just seems to look like the same stance as a lot of the maximas I see around here
