starting problems-help needed!-LONG

alright, i have posted similar questions to the one i'm about to throw out, and have received different solutions each time (which, by the way, i did try!) ok-been having a problem with getting the car started. consistently takes several minutes to try and get it started-sounds like it wants to start, but i have to keep the starter engaged until the engine really takes off. coincidentally, when it does *finally* start, i have a hard time keeping it running while in gear. stays running if it's in park or neutral, but dropping into gear or stopping at intersection most often kills it! Some of the suggestions that i have heeded are...new fuel pump (planned on purchasing anyway) new fuel filter, new starter (once again, was going to need to buy soon) i'm not sure what the events, if any, led to this, just one day was difficult to start! it has been suggested that i may have a vaccuum leak, but i'm not sure how to go about checking that out! it would be greatly appreciated if others have insight on this! also, not sure if this has anything to do with anything-when i changed the starter, i changed the fuel filter as well-in order to remove the starter, had to take off the popcharger. when i put charger back on, but not hoses coming from it, the car started right up 4-5 times, but would die very soon afterwards...thot the problem was solved, but when i hooked it all back up, the difficulties returned! sorry for the length of this post, but i figure it's better to give in-depth details to avoid wasting other's time!!! thanks!!!

Have you tried cleaning the throttle body? It helped my idle speed. It takes 30 mins and a can of throttle body cleaner ($3).

Auxiliary Air Control (valve). It adjusts the idle based on engine loading. They become clogged over time.

Have you checked the spark plugs or replaced them recently?
Am having the same issue with my 92 SE. No problem with the starter or anything else. Mech. said it's the spark plugs. He pulled one and I was overdue. Should be fine in warmer weather but the cold brings out the issue.
Just got my new plugs from Courtesy and having them put in Sat.
