Best NEW Injectors? I've had it with refurbs
What are the best new fuel injectors available for the VG30E? I'm getting ready to purchase an entire NEW set. A seller on Ebay has JECS sets for $385, and then there's new sets from from Courtesy Nissan for $787. Some threads here also mention Bosch Injectors. What's the latest on which is best? I'm going to do this installation just one more time, and I'm sick of injector problems.
I 've have two sets of 6 injectors refurbished and tested by Witchhunter Performance; and have done two installs now: once for my 1990 SE that I've mostly restored, and one for a 1990 GXE that I used to own. On each car, 1 injector of of 6 failed soon after installation, in spite of the testing by Witchhunter. All had ohm readings within the recommended range.
Lots of threads here on new injectors, but most are quite dated. So I thought I'd get a more up to date read on what new injectors are best. Are the Nissan injectors JECS or Bosch? I've seen it given both ways here on the forums.

i believe OEM injectors are "the best" but it's also the MOST $$$. you need to figure out if you want to do this job again or do this for the last time (more or less).
JECS i've heard good things about but no first hand experience...but i've seen mixed reviews on them.
To my knowledge the OEM injectors are not bosch.

The OEM injectors are JECS aren't they? At least I could have sworn VE injectors are JECS
In my black VE I put in 6 new Airtex/Wells injectors. I got a really good deal on them about a year back on Rock Auto. I haven't driven it much at all so I can't attest to their long term quality.

Now that James mentioned it, I'd heard before of people getting injectors from Rock Auto before. I checked, and to my surprise they have 6 different brands listed for the 1990 Maxima - all new, but none JECS.
BOSCH 62005 'blue Dot' $44.79 "Wholesaler Closeout private label pkg", $108.79 "Regular Inventory"
BOSCH 62006 'black Dot' $104.79
Beck-Arnley 1580654 $81.79
Airtec / Wells 4G1474 $79.79
Plus injectors by AC-Delco and Standard Motor Products that I'll pass on.
Just for grins, I called Rock Auto on the 'Wholesaler Closeout' Bosch 62005 at $44.79. They are supposed to be new, but could possibly be old stock - they really didn't know. Interesting, but I think I'll pass - that's just too cheap compared to the $108 regular price; makes me suspicious. Plus the Nissan FAST parts system shows the original injectors have been redesigned twice since the originals in my 1990 - these bargain Bosch might be an old design.
Bosch is tempting just by reputation, and the $104 for the 'black dots' beats Courtesy Nissan's price significantly (@$131.50 ea + shipping). Since I'm buying a set, Black or Blue doesn't matter. But I've heard good things about Beck-Arnley and Airtec / Wells too. Just enough price difference to make the decision difficult; I really only want to do this job 1 more time. I lean a little towards the Nissan parts, but those guys have made a fortune off of overcharging me for Maxima parts already.
The classic Mule starving to death between multiple piles of hay! LOL!

personally i'm not a fan of german electrical parts.
the remans you really roll the dice...i don't think they change the coils...they probably test them and the ones that are ok they clean and paint...boom back on the shelf.
that's why i'm recommending the OEMs...i mean yeah it's expensive...but they lasted over 100K from the factory...they will last another 100K+ without any issues.

JECS IS Bosch. And vice versa, some kind of business partnership. They're the same thing.
Just get that $400 set from ebay, you won't find them cheaper, and he's not going to budge on the price, I've already asked.
You could always install used ones, save yourself $400. Make sure the impedance is within spec and you're almost guaranteed years of service. It takes awhile for them them to fail even when they fall out of of range.

Over the counter Remans are out of the question. 6 or 7 years back when I first started researching injector replacement, I read nearly every post in the 3rd generation section. Those always had a failure rate of a least 1 in 6; some members even got 1 failure in 3. I thought I'd be able to do better by sending in my own injectors for refurb to places like RC Engineering or Witchhunter Performance where I inspected and pre-tested the ohm rating ahead of time; thinking the post refub testing and performance graphs would eliminate failures. No such Luck: I still got a 1 out of 6 failure ratio in both of TWO installations soon after. So it's New injectors only this time. There's just too much work in tearing down the engine to get access to the injectors to chance having to do it twice.
I'm ok with spending $400 or so for a set of new injectors; but I'm reluctant to shell out DOUBLE that price to get genuine Nissan injectors; though I still might go that way.
I must say I've had fantastic luck on wholesaler close outs on Rock Auto. Those are fantastic deals IMO. Sometimes the boxes are beat up or are new old stock but I've bought dozens and dozens of close out Rock Auto parts over the years and they've always been actual new parts. In fact in frequently check Rock Auto with no particular parts need - just hunting for close out deals to hoard spare parts. Now that I think about it, the injectors I mentioned above were on wholesaler close out, which is how I got them for such a good deal.
With your comments, those Bosch closeouts DO look more attractive. One issue though: My bootleg Nissan FAST parts software shows that the original 1989-1990 injectors have been revised TWICE; I would assume the newer part numbers were re-designs to correct problem issues. I would be chancing getting one of the older designs. The injector solenoid coils seems to be the weak link; they break down too easily. Probably the materials used. It seems my current failure is that: you can hear the injector move a little bit, but not the healthy 'click' you hear with ones that are functioning properly. Electrical connections are good, as I replaced all the injector connectors with a newer Bosch design with contacts heavily treated with DeoxIT products to prevent any future corrosion of the contacts. Did that at the same time I did the last injector replacement with the refurbs. R&R'd all electrical, vacuum, fuel, and coolant components/hoses at that time also.
I would bet those Bosch aren't the initial crummy Nissan design. Regardless they're a fantastic deal. If you look their part number up elsewhere they're $100+ each. Add in a 5% discount code found easily via Google and you're sitting pretty on Rock Auto, $260 shipped.

I found the Rock Auto discount code ok, but there was no place to enter it on the Rock Auto order - that may have been because the injectors were a closeout. So total cost was $277.38 for the set shipped. One 'gotcha', unlike all the other injectors I looked at, these didn't come with the injector O rings, so that will add about $25 to the cost; I didn't catch it until after I placed the order. My second choice would have been the JECS injectors on Ebay at $389 shipped with O rings. They were JECS p/n 16600-21V02 bought directly from JECS in Japan in 2010. I searched on that JECS part number, and got some hits indicating they were probably the same as Nissan's latest design.
So now I'll be rounding up all the gaskets I'll need for the teardown. The good news is that since I've done this fairly recently, getting the old gaskets off shouldn't be the cast iron bear that it was on the first injector replacement. I plan to get this done before winter sets in.
Sorry man I should have stated earlier, you enter the discount code into the "how did you hear about us?" box
You're more committed than I, if I changed injectors in the last few years I'd just re-use the old o-rings rather than buying new ones again
