Strange clunking
The sound only happens after I initially take off after the car has been parked. I put it in 1st and go, it might be slightly noticeable while in gear, but after I take it out of first, it's a much louder "clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk". My initial thought was throwout bearing, but it does the same thing if I just pull it out of gear without using the clutch. Thing is, this only happens when I first start driving the car and goes away pretty quickly. It just started happening not too long ago, so I'll have to test it out some more.
In the meantime does anyone have any ideas or experience with the same problem? I'm assuming it's transmission, axle or brake related. Braking seems to help make the sound go away, it doesn't even last long enough to diagnose, within 20 seconds the sound is gone and it won't happen again until I park it and wait awhile. So what I'm saying now might not be 100% accurate.

It was the wheel bearing. Not exactly what I expected from the symptoms and the sound, but it was pretty obvious after I jacked the car and gave the wheel a shake. Bought a press for $100, should have bought one years ago before I started fixing and trading transmissions. No more paying machine shops.
