Go to http://www.kalebonline.com and look under tutorials. You need new window regulators. He gives the part numbers and everything you need. and you can order this stuff at http://www.courtesy-nissan.com They also give a discount to maxima.org members.

And please stop yelling at me.

Rear windows

The newbies must have all the non-working windows. I have the same problem with both rear windows. Another stupid question. How do you know for sure if you need regulators or motors? If you can hear the motor run I assume you need the regulator. Is that right?

This is a very common problem, that almost everyone deals with at sometime, and I have never seen it be anything but the regulators.

You don't need a motor. Unless you've burned it up somehow. If anyone tries to sell you a motor they're cheating you, since they cost like $300 or something. You just need a regulator.

Do any of you guys know how to get the panel out? So far, I've unscrewed the 2 screws underneath the door handle.

I guess when you change those window reg so many times, 4 times now, 92 se & 93 se, both rear windows, first what I did, I bended a metal hanger and had my rear windows stuck for like a year, then I finally decided to cash in and get those damn regulators. Whenever u gonna change them, don't forget to actually get the motor out from your old regulator and screw it on the new one...Just don't want you to run in the same prob like I did once, put the new reg in. almost was done, and then realized i didn't put the motor in....Good luck, its pretty easy, shouldnt take long.

heheh LOL that's gotta suck!!

that's also half the reason I just fixed my regulators when they broke.. don't have to mess with the hassle of ordering parts, wait forever, blah blah blah.. jsut go out into the garage and screw around for an hour or so.. then it's fixed.. nothing to it!

most likely, couple more times you gonna roll the window down, and your reg will be out.

Believe me, a LOT of people have had that same problem, Stae. So you aren't alone in the world. I just bought the regulator from Courtesy the other day (exactly $55.64, not including shipping) and got it in the mail this evening. I will be dropping it in tomorrow, because I'm tired of freezing my @$$ off. Oh, and thanx Kaleb for the part number, and thanx Matt for the instructions.

hmm so you can do window work just by taking panel off? that metal welded piece between window and panel allows you room to change regulator without removing it?

by the way, what exactly is the regulator? heh. cause ever since i got the car one of my rear windows had a problem (didnt really care about that window), but now as of a few days ago my passengers side window has a DIFFERENT problem (Care about that window). The rear window doesn't move at all. I try to move it down, the motor makes a faint and anemic sound and the window fails to move. The PASSENGER side though is a much different problem. The other day after rolling my window all the way down, I heard a SNAP, and it wouldnt roll up. I thought I mighta broken the track or something, and took door panel off to investigate. Turns out the little cable falls off track and KEEPS falling off. Also noticed a new scratch on window so I think something broke in there =(. I learned that I CAN roll the window down, its on track, but whenever I try to roll it up it wont and it FALLS down (wont stay up without my holding it). Right now i have it duct taped up, looks really ghetto! Which of these problems sounds more like the traditional maxima window problem?

they both sound like the regulator problem. if you replace them both they should work fine.

you can change the regulator by removing the door panel and moving the plastic that is over the metal. there is enough room to pull the regulator out, its just take a bit of moving around to do.

I had my passanger side rear window duct taped up for a while too, it sucks but I got tired of it so I took the door panel apart and wedged a 2x4 in there to hold up the window, but gitting that tape off the glass was a pain in the ***! I tryed alot of stuff but the only thing that got it off was goof off. I got it at a hardware store and it works great! Just thought I would let you know I'm goin threw the same thing
