Squeal/squeak

Recently I have been hearing a High pitch squeal comming form the right side (front) of the car I think it is the belts. Do you guys have any ideas. Oh yeah and it goes away the second I even slightly tap the brakes so I am weary of the belt theory

probably the wear indicators on your brakes.. right side always seems to go first.
time to replace your brake pads.

does the noise only happen while you're moving, or does it happen while stopped too? If it happens while you're stopped, it's obviously not your brakes.

Only while moving and the pitch gets higher as the speed gets higher.
But I thought the wear indicators sounded when the brakes are applied

that's your brakes then.
on the wear indicators, the noise goes away when you stop on the brakes.
(I just changed- literally- my 30th set of brakes last weekend, so I'm positive about this.)

i had the same problem

i found out that my rotors needed to be turned. I told them that it was done about a week before it started and they found they were warped from not being turned properly i also believe that the rotor was too thin. I would make sure that they also sand down your pads even because pads tend to get a lip on them small enough to make them squeek from the end of the pad hitting the top of the rotor. Check this and get back to me.

Thanks Matt I was getting a little worried I have been kind of hard on the car lately (Those sand covered corners are just so tempting) And as I started to rule out belts my next thought was suspension/drivetrain. DNAS420 I will probably just go with new rotors. But if not I will let you know, I have only had the car a few months so I am not sure what has been done recently

Squeak nightmare!

Just to share my experience with you. Just spent insane amts of money at the dealer. They said it was my drive belt AND my shifter bushings. (it was not the shifter bushings) However, the squeak still continued on the right side. Since I had just had my breaks done 2 months prior, I took it back to that place 4 TIMES( when they told me that nothing was wrong with it each time)! Long story short, the hardware was installed improperly and therefore the brake indicator was rubbing against the rotor. They re-did the whole thing --finally-- and all is well. Good luck!
