1994 Auto Transmission cooling hose question

The automatic transmission cooling hoses on my 94 GXE are original parts numbered 21631-85E01 and the other I can't read because it is as old as George Washington. I checked Nissan and the first hose is $40 and the second is $30. They are supposedly bent correctly, but do I really need that or could I buy generic transmission oil hose? If so, does anyone know what diameter? Reading past posts, they suggest 5/16 hose, but other sites suggest 11/32, which is close.

$70 seems stupid, but I don't want to lose the tranny after just replacing the fuel lines, exhaust system, fuel injectors, a ball joint and axle, stereo, water pump/timing belt, power antenna, motor mounts and a crap load of window regulators over the past 3 years.

Thanks!

Just go to the junkyard and find a nice one that isn't brittle or damaged.

Generic hose is fine, just take a piece of your old hose and match it at the parts store. Pickup some clamps while you are there.

Thanks guys. I am going to stay away from the junkyard, as those hoses are probably as old as mine. Nissan is such a pain in the a** that they purposely don't give the actual dimensions so you feel forced to pay up. I was hoping to not have to take the hose off to match the internal size, as I still need to drive the car to autozone with the same car. I guess I could take it off in the lot.

Even the clamps are a hassle, as they tell you not to use worm clamps for hoses under pressure, so if I can't use the old clamps I suppose I will use fuel injector clamps, if they fit, once I figure out the size of the hose. Or I guess I can buy the clips from Nissan at $2 each...still aggregious, but not like paying $70 for $8 of generic hose.

If anyone knows whether it is 5/16 or 11/32, let me know. Thanks again.
