still a "newbie" (gotta get rid of this status) i see....anyhow, i recently did a search on timing belts and timing chains. i have a 92 SE and i was wanted to know if the SE had a belt or chain. some threads i read had people with SE's having a belt and others having a chain. my next ? is, i also read that if you have a timing chain, that is suppose to last tha lifetime of the engine!! how true is that? preciate tha help gentz and laydeez!!

Some SEs Do have belts (VG) you have a 92 therefore a VE with a CHAIN
and yes the chain should last

 

whoaaaaa...thats a big burden off my chest and wallet...thought i was gonna have to get a timing belt replaced....$700 at tha dealership...good lookin out ya'll!!!

 

How about a 91 SE? Belt or chain?

 

the VG engine which came equipped on 89-91 Maxima Se have a belt, the 92-94 Maxima Se have a chain due to the new engine at the time, which is the twin cam 24 valve. The VG came equipped also in 92-94 GXE models only.
