air pressure for stock tires

I have a 1993 maxima with stock tires and wheels. When i fill the tires there is a gauge on the handle of the air pump that has numbers 1,2,3,4... etc. I filled my tires untill the gauge read 4. My first question is what the heck are those numbers? Is that current tire pressure? Also, what should that gauge read? I'm not talking about the 32lbs on the pump itself.

You need to purchase an air pressure gauge from your local Wal-Mart or auto parts store. The air pressure gauge is used to determine the pressure of your tire so you can determine if it needs air or not, and also to determine the current pressure as you're filling it up. You should air up your tires to 29 PSI.

If you feel you aren't qualified to air your tires up, or you are confused about what I have said, I recommend you consult an automotive professional.

With all due respect, are you sure you're not a woman by any chance? It's rare to hear of a male who can't read a tyre pressure gauge.

Personally, I'd scrap the car and ride a pushbike in your case. No offence.
