As well as 30hp from a catback and intake, enough hp to take a full 3 seconds off your ET with a 50hp shot of NOS and 100FWHP from a "Type R" sticker.

Re: Is This Possible (vg30ett)

Hey Guys!!! Guess what?!? I found a 8.0 liter Dodge V-10 for only $500!!!! I am going to swap it in this weekend. That car is going to be so phat. Whoever heard of a 450 hp front wheel drive Maxima? Wow, you ignorant ****s get in line behind me, I thought of it first.

Later, I am going to swap in better stuff and add some turbos and stuff. I should easily have a kabillion horsepower. WhoooHooo....

(sounds like pie in the sky?...no kidding. So is your "twin turbo.")

Well, actually you can get a serious amount of HP out of a VG30E. I've researched it quite a bit so please nobody attack me after saying this! I know a performance engine specialist and he does VG30E performance stuff since the 80's 300zx's use the same basic engine, though there are differences. Anyways, long story short, a custom Whipple s/c could be fitted w/ performance internals and he said about 500-600hp running 12lb pulleys and a blower. Now, needless to say, there is no way in hell it would be street legal, you'd go through a tranny every single day, wouldn't get any traction, couldn't drive with the hood on (blower, unless you chopped the hood up!) and its a Drag only engine! So, of course, its possible but you're never going to see something like that on the street and no one will probably ever go quite that crazy with a VG30E. Sorry to get off topic.

HOLY **** a Whipple.....you seen the size of that thing and I think its a roots-type! and how in the hell will this fit??? I'm not getting on you just kinda perplexed.....and you're right you can't drive with the hood on, nor will you be able to see the road! I think you'd be better off custom fitting the Vortech on...

Whipple's are Lysholm-type (twin screw), they aren't very big either. You're thinking of the huge 6-71, 8-71, 10-71 and 14-71 polished Blowers made by BDS and Holley. Huge, polished cases with two FAT carbs sittin on top and an Enderle-style scoop like the Charger on Fast And The Furious.
Whipple's website is: Whipple's website
Here's a pic from their site: Whipple on a Triton V10

My bad, Weiand makes the blowers for Holley, here's a pic of the good stuff you're thinking of. Excuse me while I drool:

Mtcookson, you could get 500+hp out of a VG30E with a turbo. Though, there are SO many factors to consider when taking such a huge leap in horsepower. Basically, if you could spend the money and time getting custom manifolds and other parts fabricated to get everything put together properly. Though, I think many of the veterans on here will agree, tuning everything properly can be much harder than rigging up a turbo. I don't claim to be any expert and definitely do not know half as much as some of the guys on here but, I know that much. If you were to put some turbo on and boost it to high psi and get 500hp, you're going to have to modify basically EVERYTHING else on the car to handle such power. You'd have to completely go over the whole powertrain and drivetrain and upgrade everything (intake, exhaust, performance engine internals, etc) because stock parts can definitely not handle that much power. Now, there is no problem with setting your sights high but I've learned to take it down a notch. When I heard I could get a 500+hp engine, I went crazy and decided that's what I wanted. Though, I've come to a realization (pretty damn quick!) that this would cost quite a bit in overall mods to handle the power. Now I have my sights set on a more easily obtainable list of items:

all engine w/ performance cams, polish/port manifolds and heads, bigger fuel injectors (300zx maybe), ECU, intake, y, cat, dual Dynomax Magnum Or Borla Turbo (dual dual tips!), Level10 perf. tranny rebuild, Level10 TC, and a bunch of other mods (euro spec BMW conv. w/ HID conv!). That adds up to alot of $$$ but I've already talked to some guys and done calculations. With the mods I want to do I should get an optimistic 280-340hp (can't be specific). This is just an example, just to give you guys some ideas. Of course, you could also throw on quad T88 turbos w/ each at 37psi and get around 1500+hp

Ok well... i want to pull 500-600 out of a maxima. Which would be better or would handle more power (with all of the internal mods) VG30E or VQ30DE?? I am willing to spend a lot of money to get everything set up. It will take a while but i want to do it. I am probably going to be looking at 15,000 to 20,000 dollars total on performance.

how would the vg30et motor work? since it is RWD, would you just turn the motor sideways?

and would a turbo on each manifold work for a vg max? i mean, without any major problems?

You're probably thinging of the vd30De which is the 300zx dohc engine. The vg30e is the maxima sohc engine.
