muffler, once and for all.

i searched and didnt find what i was looking for. so here goes
i've decided against dual exhaust, and i want a DTM muffler. i was looking at the cheap ones around here but they're all straight thru and this will be sickeningly loud even with a resonator (i had this setup on my previous car). how will an arospeed DTM sound? i dont mind a little louder, but i cant stand droning. i was thinking about either magnaflow or arospeed. i just want something that is louder than stock, very loud under hard acceleration, but no droning. if it helps, i'll be replacing the whole exhaust system except for cat and manifolds. i'll add a resonator if need be.
thanks

Re: muffler, once and for all.

all "straight through" mufflers will be loud no matter the brand...there is no getting around it. and like Chris said E-bay is a good place and also r-speed.com

hmmmm....I'm 99.9% sure that doesn't exist. all I can say is that if you don't want the added sound, then you don't want an aftermaket performance muffler, plain and simple. all I can suggest for you is to put a DTM tip on your stock muffler and call it a day...its the only way you're gonna get a QUIET, DTM-style muffer, cause like I said I'm 99.9% sure that no compnay makes non-straight thorugh DTMs.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: muffler, once and for all.

yes it drones at low cruising RPM(2-3k), but is moderately quiet on the higway(3k+)! now don't get me wrong its NOT BY ANY MEANS QUIET, but its a lot lower than most 4cyls. I hear buzzing by. as for choosing the type its all up to you, there are millions of types and brands and you can cut down on the droning if you keep your stock resonator!

i'm looking for something as loud or a little louder than my intake. i'm thinking i'll just get an N1 style muffer w/silancer, that seems to be the best bet....for now at least. if the gov't is good to me for taxes, i might go duals..the piping will be liike $5 more and labor will be the same, so why not?

P.S. i know, i'm running around in circles, but i just cant decide.

I agree, a resonator should cut down on drone, and it will also reduce sound levels some (depending how big the resonator is). Isn't the N1 also going to be loud as heck though?
