Brake lamps

About 6 months ago, i was having a problem shifting my car from park to any other gear. Found the solution to tha problem and it turned out that tha fuse for the brake lamp had blown...it was changed and everything was good to go. Well over the weekend, this problem happened again and with me solving the problem not to long ago, I thought i had it covered. Turns out its more to my problem than meets tha eye. Everytime I change the fuse and press the brake down to change gears, the fuse blows and I am required to use the manual shift lock release...........can anyone help me out with why this is happening and what i can do to solve this problem???!?? thanks!!

hey, my car does this to me about every now and then. I don't know what the problem is, but i just use the manual shift lock release and it is fine. Whe i use the manual shift lock release it usually doesn't happen again for about 3 months or more.

I would check the brake light wiring. It sounds like it is somehow shorting out. Also... is it possible that you are using the wrong bulbs? Are you using the right amp fuse?

Good luck,

i know tha amp fuse is supposidly 10, but 6 months ago when i let this mechanic who specialized in workin on nissan's look at it, he took a volt meter (i guess thats what it was) and tested all tha fuses. Found out that the rear lamp fuse had blown and he replaced it with a 20 amp fuse as oppose to a 10 and he said it would be okay. well now tha fuse keeps blowin and just today i got pulled over and recieved a warning from tha boys in blue. i haven't messed with tha brake light wiring at all and i replaced tha bulbs not to long ago (probably bout 3 months ago), and really had no problems at all....i'm really stumped about this!!

Good luck,
Very bad mechanic.LOL Open the trunk remove the brake light panel and look at the wiring and the bulb holder contacts. If they are not fried call me the bad mechanic. Go to nissan and order the bulb holder panels for $50 bucks a piece or junk the out at the junkie for $25 each. Common problem with Max. Those things are made of plastic and the bulbs get very hot and fries it. Nissan won't admit the problem. I say recall.
