Emission Control light
Emission Control light
After 200k miles, my emission control light on the dashboard comes on and off...
I'm getting the coolant temp sensor, oxygen sensor replace soon...
Hmm...is there a way to turn that(Emission control light) light off in a regular car shop instead of going to the dealer ?

Re: Re: Emission Control light
Yep, I'm talking about the Check engine light, and that happens to be the emission control light. I wasn't ready to pay 80 bucks an hour at the dealer shop just to see what's the problem is. Do you usually take your car to the dealer shop for fixups?

No. I never take it to the dealer unless I can't find the problem. (Sometimes they can't either!) What I'm saying is that it is easy to pull the code from the ECU yourself at home. It will save $ if you feel confident to do it. Go buy a Chilton's for $20 and the procedure and code explanations are in it.
