Don't buy it!!!! That is a rip-off, I have that mod done, and all it is, is a weird hinge, and the unbolting of your furthest forward bolts on the lid.

anyone have costs on this? what about pics on a Max? What do they do with the OEM tension rods that hold the lid up now?

I'm going to have to remove the tension rods on my car for my stereo, so I gotta find some other way to keep the lid up.. if this will do it, then.......

well like he said, he needs a way to keep his hood up for his system, so it would be more for functionality that riceness.

well actually Dodge stratus trunks have a similar opening mechanism from the factory.. plus it's only something you notice with the trunk open.. and it's not yellow and doesn't have and stickers.. and it doesn't try to convey the image that you're faster than a 17s 4-banger.....
so IMO, it's not rice. I do think it's a little silly for people who don't need it, but in my case I need something similar to that for my trunk to open correctly once I get the system in.

Matt just split the trunk in half and add the "dancing trunk lid" hydraulics.

But that would add too much weight! I'm using CF and Kevlar for a reason!

so, anybody gonna tell how it's done specifically? I'd like to try this.
What's the mod called? If I search the 'net, what keyword(s) do I use?

Re: Re: wow

matt, you're trunk is not gonna open correctly without this mod? how so? all i think this is, is a hinge that will have to be modded in between the trunk and the supports that open the trunk

the OEM trunk design uses torsion rods as springs to hold the trunklid up. (they're the metal rods running under your rear deck).
I'm installing a pair of 12s in the rear deck and I need to remove them in order to do it. Sooo, I'll have nothing to hold my tunklid open. I gotta find another way to do it. If this thing has it's own spring design, then it'll work fine for me. if it uses oem springs, then I'm skrood.

what about buying some hydrolic lifts from like auto zone or something and custom fitting those to your trunk lid?

something similar to our hoods?
would that seem feasible after your system install?
or would there be no room?
