Clutchless Shifts
I've all but mastered the art of the clutchless shift, i was just wondering if you do these all the time will it mess up the tranny at all. I was thinking that if i match the revs good at around 3 grand the gears slip in very nicely without a grinding sound or anything, so i dont think that it would be messing anything up, but i was just wondering if they do mess anyhthing up? Thanks.

i've missed I don't know how many shifts and ground several times doing other stuff.. tranny is still fine. our tranny gears are pretty tough, but I wouldn't TRY to break it.
then again, if youv'e got the shift points down to where you don't grind when shifting, go for it. it'll save wear on the clutch and shouldn't cause the tranny any extra harm, unless you miss the shifts.

Re: Clutchless Shifts
I used to drive a BIG truck and once you get going you dont even think about a clutch. The trannys in them are a little more heavy duty, but a car or little truck can take it too.
I drive my Toyota Pick-em-up like that all the time, clutch has been slipping for 2 years. If I used the clutch all the time it would`ve been toast in no time.
As long as you dont grind alot you should be good to go, but grinding kills synchros (among other things)so dont force it. If it doesnt want to go, put the darn clutch in .

I used to have an 81 Toyota Turdcell and once I got going I could shift thru all the gears without the clutch. 1st to 5th back into 1st again(1st is the toughest and not recommended unless you KNOW what you`re doing).
Once you have downshifting figured out, upshifting is just the opposite, so it should be easy.
Hope this helps ya. LATER

Re: Clutchless Shifts
My other car is an old 85 F-150, and I do this all of the time. If you know your car you can tell exactly when the RPMs are right and you can shift without the clutch. I didn’t think it was possible until my dad bet me he could do it (since it used to be his truck) and I was amazed. Takes some time, but not something I recommend you doing unless you really know your car
