Update on Muffler

Well... here's the story in simple terms. I got it installed yesterday afternoon and during the 30 minutes ride home I wish I could've ripped it off and destroyed it with a sledgehammer. It was so friggin deep and annoying I wanted to shoot myself. All I heard on the way home was *mmmmmmmmmuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh* LOUD. Maybe that's the way they all are and I'm just stupd, but I just had to get it taken off! So I went to Meineke and got a normal single muffler. Then this morning I went and got a nice little chrome tip. There's a quite tone that comes out still, but it's not even to close as bad as the crap I put on yesterday. So now I'm goin to try and get my money back from the performance one (even though it's got hangers on it and an extra pipe stickin out the back. I better get my duogh back or I'm goin to be extremely mad!!!! So yea, that's it.

That's the typical first time experience with the "I'll add a performance muffler!" idea. Don't worry, I've done the exact same mistake too and it's very demoralizing I know.

This sounds like the infamous "exhaust drone" you typically get with some perf. mufflers. You also could have added a exhaust resonator in there too which helps some (depending on how loud it is to start and assuming you don't have one anymore). The first time was enough with me and I'm DONE with screwing around with performance mufflers. If I ever do duals in the future the whole focus will be QUIET!

The intake mod is probably better for making noise at high RPM (I'll see soon!)

I have a cat-back and it bothers the hell out of my old lady. She finally quit complaining after a year but for many months she didn't even want to ride in my car! I'm damn near deaf anyway, so it doesn't bother me. I like a good drone. Did you just weld a muffler up to your stock piping? I don't know if that would make a difference in sound, but maybe you should have had the shop put on 2.5" piping too, at least from the cat back like mine. I dunno, that might just make it louder, actually...

What kind of muffler was this??

Yea, they welded it on to my stock piping. I think a 2.5 pipe woulda made it louder. I dont care though, I'm so over it. Right now I have a stock muffler with a Pilot tip. It makes a quiet drone, just a WEEE bit louder and I'll be totally happy. But yea, no more peformace muff's, they're scary, heh.
