If you know any thing about cars PLZ HELP!
-Ok first off on start up from cold, Black smoke comes fromt he tailpipe. after about a min. it goes away,
-my idel is very weak
-when the RPMs are low the car jumps around (shakes) and there is a greAT loss of power.
i was searching around and looking for answers and i think its my fuel injectors... can any one tell me what i should do.... if i go to "pep boys" and have them clean them do you think this will fix the problem?
-PLZZZZZZZ help im going there today and i need to know if it is the injectors... or im gonig to go there making sounds to them and and see if they can help... but i trust the max.org over the pep boys ppl
thanx

Sounds fuel related to me from your description- black smoke from the tailpipe is usually a VERY rich fuel mixture. How does it drive when it's warm? You probably have a leaky fuel injector or something to that effect. Fuel injector replacement isn't that bad. Cleaning it will not help. DON'T go to Pep Boys, they are morons. Go to a reputable shop around the area, try an import car specialist first. Just try looking in the yellow pages for a shop and call around. Good luck.

Cleaning the injectors don't fix bad injectors. It's like cleaning your fingernails. You don't have to do it, but if you want to avoid fungus and crap, you should. You don't have to clean fuel injectors, but it keeps them a bit healthier and helps the engine run a bit smoother (only if they are dirty).

cleaning your injectors would be like washing your car after you've been in an accident. sure, cleaning might make it look better, but you have to get some items replaced to get to back to the correct operation.
Did Pep Boys tell you to clean the injectors? Sounds like they just want to get you in there to do some simple stuff and then when that deosn't fix it hit you up for more.
Btw, where do you live that the closest Nissan dealerhsip is 1.5 hours away in NJ?

I don't know much about cars, but I do have 10 years experience with 3rd gens.
Here is my guess:
A) A fuel injector/fuel injectors is/are bad, causing your ECU to adjust rich, which has caused:
B) Your O2 sensor to become fouled due to the extra burning of fuel and has rendered it useless.
The fun part is trying to figure out which injector(s) need replacing. If you are a home mechanic, I recommend doing them all as these are notorious for failure on the 89 to 91 models.....
You are probably beyond simply cleaning them since you have nice black smoke coming out of your pipe (another indicator of a fuel delivery problem).
BTW, Pep Boys will screw you over.
