Dust Shields

Anyone here use dust covers for your wheels? If so, do they work? I found these looking around on google.

They are supposed to help against brake dust. Oh wait, then you wouldn't be able to see the nicely painted [yellow] calipers...

thoughts?

Looks like more cheap car accessory crap (like those grounding straps and coil spring spacers). From the pic it looks like these things magically prevent brake dusting by completely sealing off the front of the wheels. Will it stop brake dust? Yes. Of course then you'd also get ZERO ventilation for your brakes (not good) and during heavy braking I wouldn't be surprised if these things melted. Even plastic hubcaps can get soft, and these things sit right up against the brake disc/drum. Now that I think about it, they're probably guaranteed to melt and cause all sorts of havoc since they sit between the brakes and the wheel!

I had these on my 96 RS Camaro. They cont completly eliminate brake dust, magically some still gets through, but not much though, I'd say it cuts it down like 90%. And they are ventilated so air gets forced in their while driving, never had a problem with them.

Just wash your weels, wax them, then wipe them down every few days.
