weight of stock rims

does anybody know the weight of the stock SE rims? (did search...saw numbers from 16lbs - 20lbs). i want to get rims but don't want to lose any performance. thanks.

I just weighed my 92SE stock rims 15 x 6. I think they weighed in at 17.8 on a digital scale. Not sure when the last time the scale was calibrated though. Surprisingly, my 2k 16in 5 stars weighed just about the same.

I have a 2000 maxima wheels too. I will put then on next week.
I weighted then and they were like 18.5 pounds compared to the stock that you weighted (17.8) its olmost the same. When you put thinner tires to the 16 wheels than the thickers of the 15 the final result will be ligther wheels+tires because the 16 tires needs less pounds of air inside.

uh... i didnt know that air weighs so much. i think you got air pressure mixed up with the weight of air.

Hey man what do you think? that the air doesnt weights????
If you dind know PSI means Pound per Square Inch, you can have diferent volums with the same PSI the one its smaller will have less pounds = weight less.

psi isnt a weight measurement, its pressure
16 psi doesnt mean you get 16 pounds for every sq. inch of air
thats the force exerted by the air

LOL

Middle school science here! Anyway, I am in the market from some STOCK SE rims to put on my car before I sell it. If you replace yours, drop me a line if you want to sell the stockers.

so what ur sayin is, for every sg. inch, at 16 psi, there is 16 pounds of air there?
ha yeah right, then a tire/wheel combo would be over 100 lbs a piece
its pressure, not weight

jajajaja, you dont know what Im talking about, even what you are talking about. You need some phisis clases!!!!

In diferents volunms of espace (square inch, square feet or what ever) you need difent pounds of air ( if you didnt know the air can be measured in pounds like the european people do) to keep the same preasure!

hope this help you

actaully im an engineering major, so thats really all i do
i dont really understand most of what ur sayin, so try again

also, volumes of space arent measured in sq. inches
your thinkin of cubic inches
squared values are for areas
volume requires a cubic value
pressure is exerted on an area, thats why it is lbs/sq. in
in euro, pressure is measured in atm. as well i believe
i atm = 14.7 psi i believe

you do seem to understand the concept of needing more air to keep the same amount of pressure in a larger volume

so why dont u try again

Knowing the weight of the wheel itself does you no good...there's gonna be tires on the wheels anyway.

My stockers with tires - 37 lbs

My 17's with tires actually weigh a little less.

Hey mister engineering major, I will be a electro-mechanic engineering next month. You are right about the cubic inches but if you what to know if Im true take you tires and put the 5 psi of air and weight them and then put 40 psi and weight them again, YOU WILL SEE THAT THE ONES WITH 40 PSI WILL WEIGHT MORE.

i know they will weigh more. i didnt say they wouldnt
they are not gonna weight how ever much more psi you put in though
thats just not right
air is light as hell
just look at the molecular weights of everything in it
they will gain very little weight

yeah I know the air its light! but as you said the 205/65-15 (only tires+air) will be heavier than 215/55-16 (only lires+air) and if the rims weght the same.... The 16 will be a little lighter than the stock ones!.
Please dont start to talk about centrifugal mass of both rims!!

not to be a complete *******
but isnt the centrifugal mass distribution really the important thing?
well anyway, as long as we are on the topic
wouldnt wider, and lower profile rubber be heavier than the stock tires?

Well, I check in a web site and the same brand and model of tires the 205/65-15 were 1.1 pounds heavier than the 215/55-16.

So the stock SE rims are 15 x 6? Is that right?

Stock SE rims are 15 x 6.5 I think it's in the owner's manual (maybe). That lets you fit up to 225/60-15 incase you're wondering. GXE rims are 15 x 6
