Speakers

Hey, man...this is what I am beginning to find out. Don't worry too much about what's in there from the factory. I am in the process of upgrading the tunes in my '93. Here's what I found. Every reference will tell you that you have 6x9's in the rear and 4x6's in the front. I got a pair of 6x9's, and found that I had 6.5's in the rear. Someone told me that I could get a mounting bracket from a bose car and that would allow me to mount 'em. As far as the front's go, you'll want something like 6.5's in the front, but you'll have to make a bracket for those as well. Matt93GXE said that he may start selling them for $50 bucks. If I find It too difficult, I'll contact him for a pair as well. I am going to put in a 6.5 component set w/ the tweeter flush mounted in the plastic part of the stock grille. Anyways, good luck, and let me know how it turns out for you. I am crossing this path myself.

I just did this...
in my 90, i took some 3/4" MDF and shaped it to fit behind the door panel and cut a 5" hole(actual hole size for a 6.5) and they work great. I would suggest waterproof foam baffels for your speakers and maybe spraying the MDF with some undercoat spray cuz of the risk of getting wet in there.
As for the back, yes the bose setup will allow for 6x9's but you'll have to buy the whole assembly with the amp then disconnect the amp. Proly pretty costly.
