Dust boots

i'm about to put my struts and springs on and when i changed my brake pads on the front, i noticed my boots were torned (duct tape won't help). I did a search on dust boots and really couldn't find what i needed to know.....on our cars, do we have to buy a specific model of dust boot or are their some universal boots that can be used? The local pep boys has some mcpherson dust boots, but i'm a lil skeptical to purchase them because I don't know if it will the job its suppose to do with the tokicos.

I just bought one at the Nissan dealer for $14, but my front end is still stock.

If by dust boots, you mean the ones over the CV joints, it usually means that they're reaching the end of their life span... I need to get my passenger side done (Damn mechanic only did one side when I told him to do both...)

he's referring to the "accordion" boots over the strut shafts themselves.

If Pep boys say they'll fit your car, then use them.. usually they're a specific model job, but we do use MacPherson struts..
I would recommend going to the dealer for them though. they're not that expensive..

i might as well go ahead and do that, should have in the first place....autozone ordered some and its gonna be $36!! When i asked if they came two in a pack, no one knew and from what i could tell the strut boot KIT was like $17 itself. But the kit included the bump boot (whatever that thing above the dust boot itself) on top of the dust boot!! It was kind of funny, everywhere that i went and asked if they sold it, they looked at me funny and was like "what in the heazy is it". Just make sure you tell them the accordion thing that covers and protects the strut bar.....but some still didn't know what i was talkin about!!

went to the dealership and they obviously got me twisted if they think i'ma pay over $100 for boots all around the car!! the total was like $103, i looked at the guy as said, "Let me go get my wallet out my car" and str8 drove away. However, i think i saw the new sentra, its a lil bigger and looks sporty *** hell....all i can say is the redevelopment nissan has done as a company is stuntastic.

that's about right.. they're about $28 each from nissan, or 15-20 aftermarket.

only one place locally can get them, and they're an inferior quality to the OEM ones.
