HELP! Want to buy an exhast!

Hi, I just subscribed and I am very confused about what to do about my exhuast on my 1991 Maxima. I want it to sound very loud with some performance gain without spending rediculous amounts of cash. I was looking at a Gerredy SP Exhaust on import-trader.com is it good? Or could I just buy a DynoMax Muffler and it will do the same thing?

Thanks

You'll have to work a little harder to get the dynomax on, but it will do the same thing. Greddy's are completely bolt on, and proven, but their cost is ridiculous. Also if you get a dynomax put on, and you want to go back to stock it'll be much harder than with a Greddy.

The GReddy isn't loud at all. I just put mine on. From inside the car, it's only a little different than stock. Have to really listen to hear the lower grumbling of the GReddy, and you can't hear it at all over an JWT Pop charger, especially if you listen to music in your car.

With a Greddy you just unbolt it to put the stock back on, but if you cut off the stock muffler then you have to have it welded on clamped back on.

well for one the Greddy uses 2.5" piping stock used 2.25"...stock muffler doesn't bolt up!

and if I'm correct the Greddy is a 2 piece system with the muffler and B-pipe welded together and then the other pice is the catback....once agian stock muffler will not bolt up!

i think he means to say that the stock exhaust system will be complete nad not cut up if he wanted to put it back on the car because the greddy replaces the stock piping from the cat back.

Greddy's are complete bolt ons, will someone with one help me out here? They come with all the hangers. Also, when you sell your car it is smarter to put all the stock equipment back on, only a select few people want a modded Maxima. Plus, no sane person wants to buy a modded car because they know that it has been raced around and is more prone to problems. You get hardly any value out of mods when ou sell your car, so it is better to keep a stock piece of everything to replace it with. This is why a Greddy exhaust is ideal, and when you sell your car, then you sell the exhaust on e-bay.

now I got you....I thought you were talking about the muffler section only, in that case its not that easy. but yeah, swapping from the cat converter back is easier with the Greddy! but you can also have a shop weld flanges onto your "custom" system too....so don't count it out totally!

Hey even it's a $1000 that'll make a down payment on a new car. Thats like asking why we mod 10 year old + cars.

i mean there is a stage in every owners life that we can get "tired" of driving the same max. but as for me i love it, i have to keep the car for 6 years. i mean its a good reliable car. Its hard to see that the value of depreciation drops so much, I mean i got my max last year at PA for 5,800 . yes i know lot of money, but its sad to see that the best selling car in Nyc is only worth 1000-2000 the max. after repairs and mods, you should be pleased with it, but hey i understand that you want something new and more powerull, but i'll always be a 3rd gen lover.

Ok back to topic, if i get the cat back system, does this mean that they cut the pipe before the cat? and then the system is then attached where the orignal cat was taken off? how does it actully bolt on?

the cat-back does not replace catalytic converter. it bolts on behing it and replaces the stock b-pipe and muffler. as to how it bolts on i belive its only 2 bolts but dont hold me to it since ive never installed one.

no it attaches to the cat and has piping all the way back to the muffler, the cat is right after the y pipe... right under the shifter basically. the piping is split up in a few places that bolt to each other to make installation easier but the piping runs all the way to the cat.

No.1 thats a undercarriage pic of an 87 and Under, maxima. 89 and UP look different.

No.2 the 2 bolts that you guys are trying to locate is right under the driver seat or e-brake (next to the cat, and resonator)
