After my first trip to the Nissan Dealership with my "new" 92SE for an oil/filter change. Dealer Diagnosis:

VTC Spring Kits Replaced $838.00
Left Axel E Seal Leaking $114.00
Both Front Axels Making Noise $358/side
Position Switch on Transmission Leaking $122.55
Due for Major Service $359.00
oh yeah, and one tire is bald ~$90

The beauty of it is I had the previous owners replace the axels 3 days before I bought the car. Got the receipt and everything... hopefully the repair shop will redo the job.

If the VTCs get too noisy I'll ground them. In the mean time I'll try and do regular oil/filter changes.
And I'll keep an eye on my transmission fluid for the time being. Not sure how bad the switch leak is.

If I had only known when I bought the car ... the mechanic who I had check it out gave the car a clean bill of health. That was 1,000 miles ago. I probly still would have bought the car but man could I have bargained them down. I thought the car was in near excellent condition....

You're going to have to replace two tires if one is bald..it's good to replace in pairs, so they wear evenly.

If the person who did the axle work doesn't fix it, then have new axles installed at a regular mechanic shop, doesn't make sense to take it to the dealer for that. You buy the axles and pay to have em installed, I would say total cost is $350 total.

I just brought my car to the dealership to have the recall fixed, and their inspection revealed about $5,200 worth of work that needed to be done.
Most of it was BS, the only one I didn't know about that they got right, was my front passenger cylinder is leaking, which is expected after I hit a deer and slammed on the brakes...
But I knew I needed to do the exhaust work, and *1* CV joint, and the brakes.
Exhaust I'm not sure about, ~$800 at most, CV joint my mechanic said $250 at most (Dealer wanted $520) and brakes I'm going to do myself for around $50, instead of the $260/pair they wanted.
But they were also telling me I'm leaking oil, which I'm not, it's low because it's due, and there's oil all over the place because a buddy of mine in the Navy messed up my oil pan, which is fixed now.
And they wanted to replace my cap/wires/fluids/everything that I did within the last 10k miles
I'd get a second opinion on everything you're not sure about.
