I would like to add a remote lock unit to my 1993 SE. However, after reading the owners manual (I just picked up the car Saturday) it appears that it may not work correctly with the Security system as you must put the key in the door lock to disable the alarm. Does anyone have any information on doing this ?
Thanks

Shouldn't be a problem

There's people on this forum who have remote entry and remote starting systems in their max's. I'm thinking about getting a remote start/entry for my max. I'm sure there's a way around it.

there are ways to do it so it works with the factory system. I installed mine myself and made it so that when I use the remote, it arms/disarms the nissan system too

to Craig---

The way you hooked it up -- so it works in conjunction with the factory alarm --- is that something a tech at Circuit City or an audio shop would know how to do, or is it pretty specific to Nissan's?

it's not that hard; someone at one of those stores should be able to do it; if not, I could explain it to you.

I have all the info on wires and stuff to do the install yourself. I installed an Ungo 9000 on mine. I never connected the Ungo to the factory arm/disarm becuase the only benifit I would have would be the starter kill on the oem alarm, I've got motion and shock sensors on the Ungo so there was really no point. But, I've got the info regardless that I can email to you. Mxmumpwr89@aol.com

If this helps

Under the drivers side kick panel right under the fuse box there is a huge bunch of wires all wrapped up CAREFULLY peel the black covering off and search the wires for a small green wire with a white stripe. When you send a negative pulse to this wire it dissarms the factory alarm lust like if you used the key in the door. Then look for a small green wire that has a black stripe. When a ground is sent to this it arms the factory alarm just as if you locked the doors using the key pad (but all the doors and stuff like that have to be closed just like regular use). If you have any more questions e-mail them to me and I'll do my best to help.

Ryan.
