It is the Variable intake manifold for VQ that is not availible in the US. I Doubt it would fit the VE. If you have a five speed why try to fix something that is not broke? If you are auto you would have better luck trying one off of a wrecked VE 5speed

Sheesh, if you have a 5-sp, you already have one. If you are auto, you can probably fit one from a 5-sp and set it up exactly the same as what the 4-gen guys are doing.

Do auto VEs have VTCs? grr.

VTC=Variable Cams
VI=Variable Intake(Variable intake runner path)
ME VI= Middle East(where they get it from) Variable Intake

Might as well get this out of the way and end this.
All VEs have VTCs
VEs in cars that came with a 5-spd Have Variable Intake Manifolds

I believe the longer path helps out with "low end power". And then the shorter path helps provide the VE with it's infamous "top end power".

Questions

I was thinking about switching out the manifolds. I have a question though: is this a DIY job? I only have hand tools and an electric drill. Do I need more torque to torque down the manifold bolts? Also, in an earlier post on this subject, someone mentioned that I'd need to modify the ECU so that it could activate the vaccuum actuator. Is this true? I've never seen a 5-spd's engine, so I don't know how the system works.
