got a ?

I have a 93 maxima and there is a piece of molding, on the outside of all four doors, it appears to be rusted, but it is pastic and can't rust... my car is tan and the "rusted brownish" color strip makes it look terrible... any ideas on what to do about this, or how to fix it? i have tried scrubbin it and nothing happens... Thanx

get a heat gun and take them off.......you can either repaint them or just leave them off(many choose to just leave them off, it looks fine)

take em off, buy lots of goo gone, and have a lot of spare time on your hands, because its a biatch to get that adhesive off the car after you remove them. but it looks a hell of a lot better without them, imo. its well worth it.

yeah the paint should be fine. but be careful when you pry them off because you might scratch the paint with whatever youre using to pry. (i used a screwdriver and made a scratch)

After goo-gone, what do you use to get the glue off with. My work has a detailing center and we have plastic razor blades. They work fine, but they leave small scratches in the paint. Rubbin with a towel and goo-gone will not work.

when i removed mine, i used a plastic putty knife....to my amazement, i got the majority of the adhesive off until i was just tired of scraping that stuff off. i was using a good bit of force to get it off and no clearcoat or paint was being removed in the process. you just have to find a way to set the edge of putty knife (plastic) in the crease of the door and most of it should scrape right off with whateva adhesive remover you're using!!
