stereo: installin eq question

i just gotta an pioneer equalizer and was goin to install it but im trying to find out the easiet way to install it. if i put in the eq with the deck it will not fit because of the original stock part that goes with the deck. i was thinkin bout cutting the plastic to make the eq fit inside the plastic piece that opens and closes. Has anyone done anything similar or installed an eq to a 3rd gen.??? help would be appreciated.
thanx

my friend has a maxima too. and he installed his eq right under his steering wheel. I'm about to buy an eq, buit i'm getting a digital one, so it will fit right under my cd player. I have 2 cd players in there right now. one right on top of each other.( just to say i can.) but i'm going to remover the bottom one to put the eq in.

I seem to recall that

someone a while ago posted pics of an install in the compartment between the front seats. May have been a 4th gen, though. I think that would be a cool place for the eq - stealth it in.

i dont have the digital one but wut i am goin to do is cut the lil compartment that opens. The lil compartment that says nissan on it. I think u can cut just enough to make it fit perfect then throw the cd player on top of it and i can close and open the compartment to hide or show the eq. Hopefully it works so i dont ruin that piece.

i dont kno....i'll check. I got everything done. it looks okay but the flip down compartment doesnt totally hide the eq. Its okay. i cant get it to work tho. I mean the cd and eq. it was kinda late yesterday....so i just decided to throw it in and see how it looks. Plus i didnt want the neighbors to think i was tryin to steal my own car cuz it was like 11 p.m.
...one question.....how do u hook up the rca jacks??? i got 2 12 in. pioneers runned by a 4 channel amp. I dont kno if it runs to the eq or the cd player. Or Both???

Yup... sold it a few years ago. I liked the features and toys on it, but the sound quality was horrible. too much noise for my tastes.

so I bought a DEX-P1R and replaced the deck and EQ with one unit.

OH RIGHT!!! all this time i thought it was my setup that made my system sounded like crap. i mean it sounds GOOD compared to everyone else, but to me you can hear too much "hiss" with the sound turned down and if you play it too loud with the SFC settings like hall or stadium it doesnt sound all that great.

haha finally found someone who agree's with me on the eq

All you've got to do is look at the specs. S/N ratio on that eq is only 85dB. a good EQ should have specs over 100dB. the noise is obviously from the EQ.

best way to keep the noise down is to turn the stereo volume up to about 2/3 and leave it there. control the volume on the EQ. (that is if you're not doing that already)
