Going into the Air Force, storing my car?
Im going to leave my car at my dads, what should i do to let it sit? Im going to put it on blocks so the suspension isnt sitting. Should i drain the oil? gas? tranny fliud? Shpuld i have my dad start it once in awhile? It'll prolly be sitting for 3-6 months. I ship tues morning, so let me know. Thanks
Change the oil once before you go and drive it around. If you trust your family to drive it once a week, that would probably be the best. It will keep the fluids circulated and won't leave the piston walls w/o oil for too long. ie.. have dad use the car to drive to work 1-2 a week. Should be fine. Good luck in the Air Force!
Hey thanks, only problem is insurance, im telling them im going to store it, maybe my dad can just drive it around, he lives in pa, so he should be aright, just got to watch out for those cows and what not.
don't really know much to tell ya about storing it, i had the 'rents drive mine a few times while i was away (12 months), but the mom ended up taking over it and i had to fight to get mine back, lol. Just wanted to say good luck in the Air Force!
EDIT- Psssstt.. i'm in the ARMY

I'm in the Army, so I am feeling you about your car...When I joined I had a 1974 Camaro, and I let my family use it...come to find out when I got home I didn't want it anymore so I bought my Maxima...in any event, good luck... Army training is harder than Air Force, remember that
Just kidding...heheh...good luck man!
Just remember, it's all mind games, don't let them get to you. That's coming from someone who has already done 3 years of service, plus 5 months at basic training and MP school..
Keep it real.
