Control Arm

I think I bent my control arm when I hit a pothole. I told it to a place, and they want $390 to bend it back in place. Is this too much? What kind of cost and difficulty am I looking at to just replace it myself?

Thanks

My buddy in the Navy slid off the road in my car and hit a curb, it bent the lower control arm on the drivers side, and part of the frame, and cracked the rim.
I brought it to a place out by Gurnee (In Illinois) and he charged me $275 even for everything, $200 for repair and part, $75 for the new rim.

Thanks,

Did he use duct tape and a hanger?

The part cost about $150 from Courtesy.

He had a buddy with a junkyard, they passed work back and forth, that's where he got the part
And no, *I* am the only one to use duct tape and coat hangers on my car!
Speaking of which... I still need to fix my parking light...

to me its too much.....

well, my lower control arm had to be replaced on the left side. I took it to some place there where they fix and align the chassis and they charged me $380 just to install my new control arm, left and right side ball joints, and both my cv-axles. but from what the guy told me is that since i had a mangulated lower control arm it was eating the inside of my tire rapidly, so if u get a new one it would take care of it. Correct me if im wrong guys, but thats what that dude told.

What makes you think think that its bent?
If it is then try a search for a used one on

http://car-parts.com
the cheapest I saw was in AZ for 35.00

If you have any mechanical experience and some basic hand tools
it shouldnt be too dificult to replace it yourself.

and if its not something you want to do any reasonable repair shop should do it for about one hour labor.
oh and make sure to get it aligned when its done.
