Spoiler trouble.

I know the first thing someone is going to say, is use the search which I have. Either I didnt use the right words or theres nothing I can find. Here my problem I have a 89 se and a while back my spoiler was popping up so me and my dad took it off the car. When we did we noticed that the inside of the feet on the spoiler was all rusted and falling apart, so my dad took out most of the metal in there and filled it with apoxy, and that worked for a while. Now the spoiler is popping up again and I have no idea how to keep it down. I hope someone of u have some ideas.

If you and your dad have already removed some of the spoiler material, there is not much you can do with the stock one besides epoxy/glue it down again and hope it stays.

Or buy a replacement spoiler, new or used.

Go to your local dealership and ask them for the mounting hardware kit. You can get those little things new and reinstall your spoiler right. I know it's possible because I sold a spoiler to someone and they did the same thing. Ask your dealership.

I don't have that problem with my 1992, but my friend had that problem on his 1989 SE and we removed some of the material stuff and put double-sided tape and also this type of glue maybe silicone but I don't remember. Well it's been a year and the spoiler is on tight. He always makes sure that he doesn't open or close the trunk holding the spoiler. It looks good also it sits into the trunk really well.

Silicone gel sounds like it could be a good fix, I don't see why it wouldn't work I've used that stuff on a lot of things!!

Crazy glue is pretty brittle, and you would have to use alot. The silicon gel sounds like a better idea.

I used some epoxy a few months ago without taking the spoiler off, and the edges started coming back up again within a week. This summer I am going to take it off and fix it. I know there is a metal piece that runs through the spoiler, but can it be replaced?

I didnt used silicone gel, I used a type of epoxy that when u mix these to chemicals together they almost turn to stone. We used the epoxy to fill the hole it the spoiler where we took out the rusted metal, its not a sticky compound. But since my dad is an airacraft mech he got some acclaimed super strong tape but it didnt hold. Ill try looking for that silicone gel. Hopefully that will work.
Thanx

I had to take the spoiler off of my 89 and i tried to put some windsheild adhesive on it which never worked so i judt got some screws and drove them up from underneath. It holds reeming tight and unless you know the screws are there you wouldnt even know it
