Carbon Fiber hoods for 3rd gens?
Carbon Fiber hoods for 3rd gens?

Ok since I'm getting some responses here I'll give you the whole deal
I have two molders interested in doing hoods for us
one is DG Motorsports of Escondido CA (near San Diego)
the other is a Carbon Fiber molder who supplies Stoopidautoparts.com (dont laugh) hehe in Palmdale CA
http://y42.photos.yahoo.com/sdsr20de858
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/cewood2
both of these car's (Sentras)hoods are examples of the DG hood it is of good quality, designed for use w/o hood pins and are made of top grade Carbon Fiber. I've seen the green one in person and it is ALOT more impressive than my Fiber Images hood, no spots, pimples and dimples from the mold and the underside had a full Fiberglass frame. It fit and looked better than the FI hood plus they have a full 1 year warranty on the hood
The SAP molder promises the same high quality and will offer the same or better warranty than DG, the thing is is that I will have to go personally to them and look at the work they have done before I choose them over DG (DG does have a good reputation but they are pricey)
The style that will be focused on will be an OEM style hood. now if you guys want venting you have to get enough people to agree one ONE style of vent and you will have to be willing to pay 150-200 more a hood
The pricing of the DG hood will be $595 probably not much less if any
The SAP molder will give us a price of $450 if we get 10 people together
There will be a need for a donor hood (probably a NEW OEM hood) If we get this deal squared away we can figure out whos gona pay for the hood or maybe everyone can chip in a little bit of money to send them the stock hood.
the way it will work is that there will be a 50% deposit on the hoods before production starts so the molder can be certain we wont flake on him, and the rest will be paid when the hood is ready. Once the deal gets started it is expected to take 4-6 weeks before the first hood comes out and then 1-2 hoods each week afterwards
everything clear? ask any questions you wish (washer nozzle holes will be a no-cost option I believe)

Maybe you'd get more interest when we actually finally get them and can vouch for quality, fit, etc. Although from what I've heard from 4th gen guys we shouldnt be expecting great quality and fit. lol.

we had issues with them two hoods seperated one was replaced quietly and the other... we made some noise about when they were giving us shiet so basically they said they wouldnt make hoods for us anymoreyea dont expect very much from the FI hoods... God you should see some of the other hoods they made haha us Maxima guys are lucky compared to some of the shlt I've seen them do on Civics

If the hood is made properly the fit should be ALMOST perfect
Maxima_Van- I have talked to DG and now I'm looking into the other molder, DG is expensive but nice, if the other molder can match the quality of DG then I will go with them
the other molder *cough* Fiber Images has violated our trust before so I refuse to do business with them again
