Update on DaBox...

I called the towing company where my car is today to ask if they were going to be there for me to visit the car today. The guy I talked to wasnt there, so another guy asked me what I needed Milton for, and I told him that Milton helped me out on sunday when I came to see my car. He told me that he would let me use his air tools to take some of my mods off the car so that I can salvage them. This guy told me that the insurace company already came to inspect the car and put a sticker on it saying that everything on the car has been accounted for and nothing can be removed! It took me 6 months to get that 2k2 muffler!! Not to mention the Y pipe and Cat were on the car for 2 weeks, and the RSB was on there for 3 days! I am going to call the insurance company now and see what they are going to tell me about the mods. I called Warpspeed for an invoice on the Y pipe and Cat and I have the invoice for the RSB, but I got the 2k2 Muffler from an org member so I have no receipt for that. I wanted to keep the mods because they were not damaged in the crash, but it looks like Im SOL.

Sucks! For the muffler have a Nissan dealer quote you a new one in writing. Or go to www.tacomanissan.com and run the muffler p/n and then print it.

Check with your insurance company if they give a certain allotment value for aftermarket accessories. I have Nationwide and they give you a $3K allowance for aftermarket stuff like stereos included in the basic rate for the car. If you claim more than that to them they need receipts for the parts and sometimes pictures and then your premiums will be higher than basic rates for the additional coverage. If you have receipts you may be in luck for up to a certain amount if your company does this. Worth checking into.

Dude, they are not going to know if you take off the y-pipe, cat, and RSB and put stock ones on. The muffler they might notice if they took pics, but probably not.

Sux tho.

Re: Update on DaBox...

If you have the stock parts you can just swap them in if your lucky. But I do know that factory 2k+ mufflers are like $400. Your going to make a killin' off of it once you show how much it costs hehe .

insurance might hook you up for stereo and cosmetic parts, i dont know about stuff that makes you go faster. state farm gave me money for my rims, the whole stereo(some stuff with no receipts), tinted tails and badgeless grill on my jetta. they refused to even consider giving me money for my valentine one though. ask you company and provide receipts if its damaged.

Yeah, I hear ya there. The only thing is, the lot attendant probably wont let me start swapping parts fromt the car because the insurace company put the sticker on it. I have to go to the car anyway to take my plates off and any other "personal Belonging" from the car. I'll just remember to bring my wrench

Yup yup, and if the guy is really nice, he might let you swap out the undercar stuff.

I was always under the impression that if insurance totals your car you get to keep the car and the money. Is that not how it works?

You usually get to buy the car back. For instance I have my car because the insurance totaled it and they wanted 800 if the guy kept the car so he sold it to me for $800. That may also be part of the deductable too but not sure.

Umm, is it really worth buying the car back? I mean, there is quite some damage to it. I also have nowhere to park it. I live in a townhome complex and the last thing the association would like to see is my cracked up car in my driveway. That would be funny to see the look on their faces.

well that depends on what you are able to get off the car right now. If they dont let you get anything else off then you have a lot of money thats gonna go down the drain. Heck you could just get the parts you may need store them and junk the car. Interior, engine trans, mods, window regulators...If it was me I would get it but I live on 10 acres and have pleanty of room to put a wrecked car but since you dont I realize it would be hard. Oh well hopefully you can get your mods off anyway. Good luck on that.

If you didnt live so far away from me I would let you park it at my house for a while.

After you parted it out you could probably still sell it to a junkyard, or at least have them get rid of it for free

I talked to the ins co about an hour ago and they are giving me about $2700 plus $100-something for the sales tax then taking $500 off for my deductable until they resolve the issue of who's fault it is. WTF?!? Look at my car! 2700 my ****. I asked her how much it would be to buy the car back and she didnt have an answer for me, all she said was that its something I would need to handle with someone else and she would need to call them. What made me even more upset was that she told me that I can find another GXE in my area in that price range. GXE?? I told her that mine was an SE, and said my VIN # said GXE. I told her that mine was a 5 speed and they didnt even have that available in a GXE, but she claimed that the adjuster said he saw it was an automatic. I told her to find another adjuster who knows what the third pedal is for and check again. So now Im waiting for another call back with her "updated" figures.
I told her about my receipts for all the repairs maintinence and other stuff that I have for the work I have done to that, and she basically told me that they dont matter because they are just giving me the fair market value of my car. NOT BOOK VALUE. What the hell am I going to do with $2300??

Dude, find cars in your area for sale that are close to what your car is. There is no way you will be able to find one for that little. Talk to the adjuster, and get it all worked out. There is no way you should get so little $$ for your car.

yeah man..thats bull$hit. the adjuster guys just definately messed up. i mean..you have the 5spd, the spoiler, definately enough to show that it's a se. most of the time the vin for different models are only the difference of a letter or number. i was lookin it up on kbb.com (kelly blue book) and they said the se's are worth at least $4500. if you want the true value, get one of the books the insurance company uses. i forget what it's called..but your library might even have one. but definately fight that.

My heart goes out to you.. Isn't it funny how you pay out the A** in auto insurance then when it comes time for them to pay-up, they really do everything possible to F*** you! Makes me sick. My girlfriend got rear-ended a year ago by an uninsured driver. 30 mph NO SKIDMARKS! The girl showed the cop either a valid ins. card but was delinquent on payment or showed an expired one and he didn't catch it. Either way, the girl left the scene and my girl was left with a Suraru Loyal wagon that had a buckled frame. The girl who hit her quickly moved to Texas and that was it...not a cent in reimbursement. Obviously no collision on a 92 loyal w/140k on it.
I'm in the process of getting insured in NJ now..WOW, what an ordeal. Not only are the rates outrageous (if you have 9 ins. points, you are lucky enough to go on the state plan...$3k a year..MINIMAL Coverage!) but it is truly a major undertaking just to find someone to insure you. Good luck with everything. Be persistant. Don't let them **** you around. You are probably sick of hearing this, but at least you walked away unharmed..many of my friends were not so fortunate.

So I b*tched and B*tched today to the total loss rep and I faxed her my Warpspeed receipt for my Y pipe(couldn't save it from wreck) and the Cat() and they sent the info back to their adjuster and got me $400 more for my car! The scary part is that I almost settled for the previous figures because I needed to pick up my new car as quickly as possible. But I never left them alone with this, so now I have a little extra $$ to put towards future repairs. No wonder why women usually get their way!

Yeah, I got everything installed on the car about 2 weeks before the crash. I got the Cat off the car though, so I made out there. And yes, Warpspeed WILL have more business from me since I need a Y pipe that fits a VE and I think that my VE could use a CAI. I still drool when I watch the video of Matt's car from 0-100 with just the CAI Besides, Dallas and Dan are great guys to work with, do high quality work and I love doing business with them.
