Is This a Timing Belt Problem?

Hi guys, been awhile since I have been on the forum , anyway can some please comment and advise of the following problem?

Ok, basically my Maxima SE automatic has laggy power below 3000. If I fully step on the gas from stand still, it just seems the power just dosnt come on until 3000 and then it feels like I got Vtec like hondas. I have read and seen people saying that this is typical of Maximas that power dosnt come on until 3000? Is this really the case?

But I use to own a previous Maxima auto and it seems that power was there for the taking right down low.

I have recently changed my timing belt with my friend as it was way off and caused really bad power peaks not until 3000.

But now after we have changed the timing, (it was a nighmare by the way trying to line everthing up, belt cams and tooths)the car still dosnt feel 100% in terms of power down low.

Now is this still due to the timing belt, if me and my friend didnt do a good job installing it, or is there some other reason such as maybe the intake or exhaust?

Thanks for your help guys

first off I am guessing since you said timing belt you have a VG30E engine not the VE30DE enigne right? If this is the case the timign chain might not be tensioned properly, and/or if you have meesseed with increasing the ignition timing you may also have created this problem. The only other option it might be is that your Flex palte in for your auto tranny may be going out if acceleration is sluggish.

Mine starts picking up around 2500-3000. If it changed with changing the timing belt then it obviously has something to do with the belt whether it be for the better or worse. Test drive another VG and see what it feels like in comparison. Getting the timing belt aligned once it is off is a PITA. Good luck man.
