I found a new product for those of you looking to clean the interior of your Max!

In the process of doing my interior swap (maroon -> tan) I noticed that the seats were dirtier than I had thought, and there were some serious stains on the carpet. I called up a local upholstry (sp?) cleaner and they gave it their best shot, and even steam cleaned it. Did it work? No, the buttholes didn't clean it that good!

Well, today I was walking around Home Depot, and I asked the carpet specialist for the best industrial stain remover he had. This stuff is called Folex, and it's AWESOME!!!!! I have removed the wear stains that were on my front seats, but I ran out of solution. It's a little expensive (11 bucks for 32 oz.). I'm gonna get the $32 bottle tomorrow, and use it on my floor carpet and the back seat.

If you seriously want to clean up your seats, this shiznit REALLY works!!!!!

(For some odd reason, I feel like a salesperson in an infomercial ad! )

Here's a before and after pic: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rbloedow/bandf.jpg (I know, they aren't the same seats, but they were equally dirty! )

Folex works wonders!! I have taken grass stains out of my house carpet with it. You just spray it on, rub it with your fingers, then blot it up. and the stuff is pretty cheap too.

Nice info. I rented a Rug Doctor last week from Bi-Lo. That device worked wonders also. I spent a lot more time on my car with it than a pro would have. I bet Folex combined with a Rug Doctor would rule!

nah, I like tan. My friend has a 90 GXE, with the same color paint as mine, but tan interior. When I first saw it, I was so jealous. It's just something about the Maroon and tan combonation that looks good.

My '94 GXE is "British Racer Green" and it has a tan leather interior - and of all the Maximi (plural) I've seen around here (and there is a butt-load) I'm really liking it alot! Of corse I might be a tad bit partial being that it is my first car that I bought and so far I love it so much. Lol.

The before and after pics posted by....umm too lazy to go look....are very, very, very nice - in fact im about to be on my way to pick up that stuff - I've got some really nice (in the worst sense of the way)stains in the passneger side seat and on the floor and in the back on the passenger side floor the prevois owner's kid must have spilled a Mc D's vanilla milkshake the day before he sold it to us - because it is all under the floor mat and wasn't there a week ago. It's horrible guys the stuffs like liquid wax. Horrible. Poor me. LOL.

The car I just bought has black cloth interior. It looked almost brand new (in fact a maxima fan on here said the same thing), except for a nice BROWN coffee stain on the back seat. Folex took it out in about 20 seconds.

That's probably the BEST info I've had concerning cleaning stains that I've heard in a while. I know when I bought my Max, the driver-side rear window had been stuck open for over a year. And in ND, that meant that every snow/rain/hail storm was also on the inside! I can't tell you how G*D* PEEVED I get seeing the horrible stains on the back seat!

Good lookin' out, rbloedow!!!

So how does this stuff work on tweed?

I've got black interior...

No cloth for me. Tweed seats, tweed center console, and tweed door inserts.

From what I can gather tweed is kinda rare. The vast majority of 3rd gens I've seen and have come across are either leather or cloth. And I've never seen another black/tweed like my car. I've seen a couple tan/tweed SE's, but no black/tweed.

Would this stuff have the same effect on tweed? It's been pretty impossible and annoying trying to clean my seats.

Hope fully it'll work that good on the carpet. I'll post some before and after pics in a day or two

I wonder what the possibility of this stuff removing rust stains out of the carpet is . . .

My dumbass friend put a friggin rusty wrench on my back seat and when I *****ed at him, he put in on the floor. Jesus, I can't seem to get that stuff out. It is starting to look like a stain from afterbirth or something.

Do you guys know of anywhere else you can buy the Folex stuzz besides Home Depot? I live almost 60 miles from the nearest one.

I actually started to buy some Oxi-Clean from Wal-Mart yesterday. Does that stuff really work as well as the commercials say that it does? What type of smell or odor? How did you use it? How long did it take to clean it and let them dry?

Well it doesnt work as quick as it does in the infomercial, but it definitly works, i got my entire interior almost like brand new, it even look like i bought new seatbelts. You gotta use a little more than they tell ya tho, i used 2 scoops of the powder and then mixed it w/ just enough warm water to submerge a sponge, mix it around and scrub lightly on the surface u wanna clean, it does have a slight chlorine type smell but itz not that bad at all and it fades away real quickly, just after u wash watever u want to wash just go over it and blot it w/ a clean semi-wet, damp towel just to get the excess out of the fabric. It dries fairly quickly, start w/ the drivers side and then passengers then the back, keep all the windows open and it really depneds how wet u get the seats, they dont have to be soaking wet just scrub lightly, u can u it on all the cloth surfaces in the car. tyr it out and let me know wat u think, as soon as i get a hold of a digi camera ill take some pics of my car inside and out cuz i just got new rims on it too!

For guys in the Great White North ... I e-mailed Folex yesterday to find out where we can get in Canada. As well as Home Depot, it's available at Canadian Tire and Home Hardware.

They did not have Folex at my Home Depot!!!
The guy was telling me all about how they purchase products and stuff. I was like "DO-YOU-HAVE-FOLEX?"....
I ended up buying Gonzo- stain remover.
I also picked up some glass towels and shop rags....
I tried out the Gonzo on this stain on the passenger side in the front right next to the console. It came a little bit cleaner.I guess it will take more than one try....

Yeah...It works...Maybe a little too good...

Yeah...well when I bought that Folex I bought some just regular carpet shampoo too, thinking hey might as well give her the whole run around. Well, I vacuum my car out...shampoo it out...And then begin to use the Folex on some tough stains...It sure as hell took out the stains, but it also brought out I guess what was a lot of old caked-on dirt out too, because the places where I used the folex stick out like a mother. It's like 5 shades lighter. I mean it looks damn GOOD where it was used. I guess I just didn't realize how dirty my carpet was. I started to try and just do my entire carpet with it, but quickly gave up...Would have taken forever. So now I guess I'm going to have to take it to a carpet cleaner and get the entire thing steam cleaned or something to even it out. So be carefull...You might just get what you want, and a little more with this stuff.

Yeah, I got grey tweed. I tried Tuff-Stuff and it sort of worked. I just need way more elbow grease. It kinda moved the stains an inch.
