2 more VE questions
Where the heck is the PCV valve for the VE? All I have is the haynes manual, and it only show a picture of the VQ. I can't find it.
Also,
There is a long skinny hose (I think it's a vacuum line) coming straight up for the tranny, that has come unplugged. Anybody now wha6t this is and where it should be plugged to?
Thanks

I believe the hose your talking about is the overflow tube and is supposed to be umplugged...oh wait you have a 5speed I dont know if they have that hose like the autos do.
i believe you can find the valve by following the bar the goes across the front of the engine, it connects to the intake after the mass air flow sensor then it goes to the left side of the engine and splits up between the two sides of the engine
hope that helps, and i hope im right

changed mine a while back...its on tha back side of the motor like everyone says....if your're lookin towards ya car, its on tha left side, (passenger side).....if you have a SE, you have to get it from nissan (or at least i did) because the one they sell in auto part stores did not fit.....FYI, its a pain in tha azz to replace, hope you have small hands and you're amberdextriest (xcuse tha spellin)!!!!
I think the hose that comes stright off the tranny that you are talking about is what I would call the fill hose. At least when I chagned my transaxle output shaft seal, and put the fluid back in that is the hose I used. If it came off, it plugs back in just to the right of the bellhousing, where the tranny starts. There is a small elbow there that points straight up at you. Hope this helps

No, the elbow just ends and hangs there. It's a breather for the trans and is not supposed to be connected to anything.
As for the PCV, you have to get your head in between the plenum and the firewall on the passenger side. Look down and the valve comes out diagonally just below where the valve cover meets the head.

I used a foot long extension on the socket wrench. b/c the pcv valve is on a slight angle, using the long extension makes it easy to position the wrench handle. You should use anti-seaze compound on the thread of the new pcv valve.

Also, if you want a manual that covers the VE, the Chiltons does.
Well that, and also the FSM.
