Ethical question about selling a dash console which I think has been rolled back.

When I stripped a wrecked car for it's interior, I also took the speedometer part of the dash. I am planning on selling it, but I think the odometer has been rolled back. I found an oil change window sticker that showed over 200k miles under the dash. The odometer shows 75k. Is it legal for me to sell this?

the odometer can be switched to that of your current cluster (or the cluster from whoever buys it) so that person could keep the exact mileage on their car even after switching gauges

Yeah what Craig said. It is not illegal or even unethical to sell a guage cluster because it is the buyer that needs to change the od. Junk yards do it all the time. If you bought a new one from the dealer it would have 000000 on it. Now if you rolled it back and tried to sell the car claiming that is the milage then that would be wrong.

But then again, what do WE know?? It's probably a safe bet that many, if not all manufacturers, as well as the DOT, EPA, and a few other organizations would likely CRINGE at some of the mods we've invested our hard-earned bucks on!

If the person who buys it lives in a state like Oregon, once the car is ove 10 years old, the mileage readings aren't required to be correct.
