My speed sender went out a year ago, and Im too cheap to fix it, so my car has stayed at 153k for a while. I have logged most of my mileage since then, but I wonder if I should reset the odometer to the correct mileage when I fix the speedometer.

All of you posting with the high mileage stories but are all 5 speeds. Are there any autos with high mileage and no transmission problems? I am looking at getting a 94 auto but I am reading about a lot of trans. problems, but then I think...this board consists of a small percentage of total maxima owners and the majority of users on here don't exactly "baby" their cars. Just wondering if that could have any effect on the auto trans. looking bad?

I've got a 93 SE auto that just broke the 100K mark about a month ago. It's driven normally - not raced, but no granny driving either - for all its life. The only tranny issue I've had (knock on wood) is that a plastic grommet broke that cost me $40 to have fixed. Make sure the tranny fluid is regularly changed and get it checked the first time you notice something weid happening. The tranny will last.

don't exactly baby them? ill take a max from someone on here anyday over somebody who can't tell the spark plugs from the exhaust pipe and hasn't changed the oil since early last year. i would never do anything to hurt my baby. (though i did do a u-turn on a statehighway in NC the other day going about 40mph )

yup, same here. my bro's first car, 90 max gxe, had a crappy tranny...rebuilt 2x i think, and still slipped. blah.
i dunno how many clutches this 93 se 5sp has been through...but since i've been driving it for the past 6 months, i think i need another clutch by the end of summer.

If your trying to say your VE is faster than my VG,
you are dreaming! I eat VE's for breakfast! It is singly one of the worst motors nissan ever produced in M/O/P! you'd have a better chance beating me if you had a lot of nos!

Hahahaha, Put down the pipe bro. Ask any member about the VG vs VE. The VG gasses out on the top end and the VE keeps pulling.
