ECM - where is it located? needs to be replaced
Does anyone know where the Computer is located in my 1993 Max GXE DOHC? I need to replace it and I'm not sure where it's located. Are there any pictures online which have instructions on replacing this?
thanks for the help.

behind the radio/center console on the floor...you can't miss it....BTW if you have a GXE, then you don't have the DOHC motor.

No DOHC on the GXE. if you don't know how to get behind the center console look at the top of the 3rd gen forum at the maintenance links. Craig has a great write up about it. Once you get the center console off it is glaringly obvious as to where the computer is, it is tucked a bit behind the driver's side.

I have a great writeup about removing the radio but not the ECU. You can see the ECU and tranny control unit (for automatics) behind there but that's probably not the best way to get to it.I replied already to an email from this person but for anyone else interested, there is a panel you can take off which is just to the right of the accel. pedal that is held on with 2 screws - one plastic and one normal screw with a cover on it. From there you can see the ECU/ECM and the tranny controller. ECU is on bottom and TCU is on top. There will be probably 4 or so screws holding it in that you will be able to see. You may have to take off the similar panel on the pass. side to help get to the screws.
