Shifting Question

So my question is, does it hurt any part of the car to do a 2nd gear to 1st gear downshift and floor it at about 25mph? I'm thinking it might not be too good for the clutch. Opinions?

I'm gonna have to ask you why you would want to do that?

If you match the rev's AND double clutch it should be fine. But once again--- WHY??

in response to why?:

sometimes you will just be cruisin' at a lazy 25mph and want to "kick it in the ***" real quick and downshifting obviously will accomplish this.

By the time you downshift correctly, get on it, then upshift to 2nd agin you should have stayed in second doin 25 MPH.

As to why to double clutch since this isn't the 50's?? It helps reduce the wear on your synchros since letting the clutch out after matching the rev will bring your shafts up to speed instead of the syncros having to do the work. It basic power transmission!

can 1st go much beyond 25 anyway? it does seem like a waste of time to go 2-1-2 again, and by 25 2nd is in a fairly good spot as far as power goes... it's probably unneeded wear on your tranny and people look at you funny too when you're turning 6000rpm and going 25mph

Double clutchingis when you push in the clutch, take it out of gear, into neutral, let the clutch out, push it in again, and put it into the next gear. What this does while letting out the clutch in neutral, is let the shafts in your transmission get up to speed with the input shaft, helping lessen the wear on the
