I have thought of doing something similar, I usually just squeeze them between the seat and ebrake but whatever works. Why nissan neglected to put in cupholders I will never know... guess they had to live up to the sportscar stereotype

 

we have cup holders they are in the glove box.

The key here MaxMo, is CUPHOLDERS, not those tea set things under the stereo, and for god's sake NOT the tiny flat spots in the inside of the glove box. Holders, not slide-your-cup-onto-the-floorers

 

im not saying i use such afro engineering that the genuises at nissan forgot to put in and decided to make little circle things in the glove box and call it done im just saying thats where they are supposed to be

 

If you go to Auto Zone or some place like it... you should be able to find these plastic cup holders that hang from window. They have a flap that pushes into area between the window and the door. What I did was put one of these on the passenger side window, and the other I pushed in between the plastic shifter cover trim.

 

I also want to auto zone and got the .99 window cup holder but instead of trying to get it to clip on the window I just wedge between the console and the cover for the shifter there is just enuff room to stick it in there and it is a tight enuff fit that its not going anywhere plus when you are done drinking you just stick it under the seat or in the glove if you dont want to see it although it kind of matches the inside of my car I will try to get a pic so you guys can see what I am speaking of.

They probably figured that these cars are such a joy to drive that we shouldnt need any refreshments. Porshe = Maxima 3rd Gen?

 

ive always wondered what our max looked like from that view, looks really sweet too, i dont think there is an angle i dont like. maybe they really did come from outter space?

btw, i though of grinding out the cupholders to make enable them to hold 2 drinks. also i was thinking about making 2 more of them next to the shifter on the passanger side.

a dremel would make cutting the wholes out alot easier, along with a grinding bit.

My mom was complaining constantly about how her Maxima didn't have any cupholders. My dad and I managed to make a cupholder. We made a wood cut out that copied the contour between the seats next to the e-brake. We then covered it with carpet that resembled the floor carpet and screwed in 2 "Euro Jr." cupholders or something. It is hard to explain w/o pictures, but I don't a digi cam on me. Next roll of film I have to finish off, I'll take a quick pic.

you guys should try doing a search if you really want cupholders. i remember a couple of months back someone posting about some saab cup holders that would fit in a double din space. they looked pretty cool and are definately better than what we have now.

 

yeah, anything is better than the little dinky things in the glove box.

 

I truly fear driving anywhere near someone who feels they just must have room for at least 4-6 beverages while driving. Makes me wonder what else you're doing while driving to make my journeys less safe...

 

I dont allow food or drink in my car so having cupholders isnt a problem.

 

 

they remind me of the cupholders that were in my 91 stanza.some location just they were factory.

 

well, as we all agree, the glove box ones are junk. the one that is in the dash is a pain because of my deck, so the ones that i would make would be the ones i use. im trying to find a screen for 2nd DIN but i need to get one cheap. i try to only have bottled drinks in my car, ive had a few spills but the black carpet can handle it, i cleaned it out really good a little while ago, need to finish that up though. also the rear passangers have no where to put a drink.
its funny, my dads durango has 3 more cup holders than passangers, but 1 of them in a big holder and 2 of them are in a folding armrest.

when driving next to me the only thing you need to worry about is the happy little VE jumping and pulling like a monster (i just had a confrontation with an old El Camino, looked really good though, i gave him a friendly wave/ thumbs up afterward. i feel bad making real V8's look bad, so i try to avoid it, or i will let them know I have them but will let them go, its a respect thing.
now i really fear my friends dad's ******, blown 454, 600hp (prolly more) and is gonna need wheely bars, huge slicks out rear, just gonna be a real slick car (theyre building it, along with a garage, a 4post hoist and a 2 post, along with new welders, air compressor, pipe bender, and a host of other sweet stuff. he got mad at me yesterday cause i started taking apart his 280z's engine (***** is his dads project, Z is his project (and mine))

 

I think I'd keep hitting those while I was shifting.

 

No food or drinks are allowed in my baby.

 

I have a 94 gxe and i have cup holders in the little sliding drawer under the radio. You have to feel up inside there and the holder will come out. Dont recommend using them...hin hint the radio is right there and it doesnt like water
