·**What does the valvebody recalibration do and why do I need a transmission cooler?

The Valvebody (VB) recalibration is a mod for your auto transmission that will give you quicker, firmer shifts (which eliminates the weak point in the auto tranny: switching between gears). Normally, the auto transmission is calibrated to give you nice, slow shifts so as to ephasize luxury over performance. With a recalibrated VB, your shifts will be quicker and harder thus giving you faster times on the track. In addition to the performance advantages, a recalibrated VB will exert less wear on the transmission. Slow shifts will put more wear on the transmission components. A recalibrated VB may allow your transmission to actually last longer. However, the recalibrated VB does require the use of a transmission cooler. This is because the faster, harder shifts will heat up the transmission fluid quicker. The VB mod is said to eliminate up to .4 seconds in the quarter mile. Check out Level 10 or MobileTek Racing for more information.

Any idea how much a quality installation would go for? I'm trying to figure how much the total cost of getting this baby for my max would be...

Takes roughly a couple of hours and some cold ones... 2max if you know what your doing. Its not as hard as it seems.. just be careful with the sensor thats connected to the bottom portion of the valvebody.. you break it.. its $70 at the stealership.... worth you money.. if you like the sports car kick to the shifts...

You can get a Hayden Tranny cooler from either Autozone, Arch or Pep Boys for about $40.

I believe it is stage II. I think the other stages would be unbearable. The shifts are hard, fast and pretty solid, unlike stock which feels like it lags...definitely worth it as far as auto....i compared it to my friend's max, a whole lot better and he definitely agrees. ask anyone who has it. As far as where its from I don't know yet...I will fill yall in when I get that info. It was desertmax's car. i am guessing it was from Mobil Tek. More info to come. No pix is available.

much thanx for the input from those who chipped in for their feedback.

I recently purchased (2) of these, one for my Trans and one for my P/S. Great deal and rated for passenger cars up to 12,000 GVW (obviously no towing).

still for sale...alot questions from newbies but no one really interested...this would be one of the best mod for your $$ if you are modding your auto. Not sure if it will fit in your tranny. check if the tranny is the same for the 95-99 and 2000-01. and for one thing don't think that something like this will fix problems like slipping.

True enthusiasts know what this is but perhaps some of us should research this before asking and as far as lowballers goes don't even try it. PRICE IS FIRM. 200 is a great price considering there is no exchange and this is not a wear and tear mod.

Talked to my trans guy, & he told me that teh bores in the Valve Body wear out-where they ride! So, how can it not be a wear & tear mod?

How often do you hear the vb wearing out?!?...yeah they may go out ...but anything can go out. here is a pix of the VB. solenoids may go out and what bore are you talking about? here is a pix of the install all it is is a piece of metal with electrical component. I will provide more pix. Ive cracked it open but I have not taken it off.

I dunno much about this, but I was told that anywhere the valves ride in the bores or ports can get warped or rounded.

Well if no one ends up buying this great mod (why I don't know), I guess I will have to take it for my other tranny (after rebuild) and throw it in another max.
