I think there are too many people moving toward a more robust piggyback like the SMT or eManage platform. This is a good price, but not a price where people are just going to jump on it. Ewuzh, how about a PM with best price shipped to 43230 and I might be motivated.

what will this do exactly for my car. obviously i can fine tune my fuel maps with it but is that it? ive never really looked into this kind of stuff before but ive always wanted to buy one

 

Intercepts the MAF signal, modifies it according to your setting and sends the signal to the ECU. The ECU uses the new modified air flow signal and tells the injectors to either remove or dump in more fuel. This is a tuning device. You need one to get your car tuned either at a shop or on your own using a wideband. The factory air/fuel curve is conservatively tuned. Use this to make your a/f curve flat, more aggressive. Tuned, the car will pull harder in all gears at all rpm ranges while in open loop operation. Everyones' results are different depending on their own modifications, setup, and competency of the tuner. You can probably expect to see a 5~15hp/tq increase across the board.

 

Isn't it closed loop that you want to change? Maybe I'm confused, but I thought while in open loop (<40% throttle) the ECU pulls signal from the O2 sensors and adjusts to stay at stoich, but in closed loop (>40% throttle) it no longer pulls signal from O2 sensors and runs on predefined maps (which are conservative).

 

You got it backwards

 

I stand corrected. The names are somewhat counter-intuitive. That's where I mix them up. To me "closed" means no longer pulling data, using pre-defined maps. "Open" mean to me that they are pulling data and making trims.

this would also eliminate the need for an RPM switch on an 00vi correct?

 

I'm pretty sure you could use the VTEC switchover as an RPM switch for the 00VI.
