WTB: '95 Stock Y-Pipe (Greater Raleigh/Charlotte Area)
Good idea...I didn't think that I could just buy a flex section as a "serviceable" aprt. Do you by chance have a part number or link? I tried searching their website but couldn't find anything.
the flex joint isn't on the site, but if you go to your closest autoparts store, it's on the shelf with the rest of the exhaust stuff and should be about 25 bucks. it'll cost you roughly the same to have an exhaust shop cut off the old one and weld in the new one, unless you can do the welding yourself. and make sure the tubing on the ends of the joint are 2in OD.
you can while the y is still on, it's just much harder. do you mean the nuts that connect to the cat are rusted tight? i just shot 'em with pb blaster, waited about 20 min., and then used a breaker bar to loosen them.
if you're doing this yourself, MAKE SURE YOU USE RAMPS OR JACK-STANDS.

Yea, the bolts connecting to the cat. I tried blasting them and using an impact wrench and it did nothing. It also looks like the joint itself might be rusted tight too...I think I might let an exhaust shop handle this one or get them to replace the bolts and get a replacement y-pipe (hopefully yours mightymax).
I went by the parts store today and they sell just some flex tubing for about 8 bucks. On our exhaust there is the metal mesh over the flex section...I assume this is for heat/protection? The one at the store is just a generic flex section - so if I take it to a shop, they should know what to do? This is my first time dealing with exhaust issues...

What do you think about a kit like this... I would have to measure the length of the flex section, but it might be worth a shot.
