how did it sound when closed?? did the butterfly valve leak at all? how old is it?

WOW, sorry for the late reply. I just noticed this.
It did leak a littel when closed which cause a slight bit of vibration. However I sealed it up with hi temp silicone and when it dried I used a knife to cut a fine cut all the way around so that it could still open and when closed it was sealed up. Its about 1-1.5 years old. Although I never really used it that often.
