Well, you could go all out and drop a supercharger in there, aside from a catback exhaust system and intake (your muffler alone doesn't add too much power). Also, just because you have a GXE, that doesn't mean you can't give it a good race when your car is modded out. You could also just spend $600.00 and get a 100 shot of NOS...just be careful not to blow up your engine. Keep this in mind too...the engine power is all the same in the 1996 Maxima's, plus, from what I have heard, the '96 are a little quicker than the '97's. Good choice in car!

2002 Jetta turbo says almost nothing about the car. Is it 5 speed? auto? chipped? stock?

if its stock auto, you'll destroy him. its he's 5 speed stock it'll be close

if he's modded with a chip and/or other stuff, bye bye maxima.

if he is an auto, and stock like you say, then you will kill him
but as far as other good mods go, i would definatly advise getting a y-pipe and possibly a catback if you have the extra cash, but get a y-pipe.
go race him and beat him

2002 Jetta GLI

Hey guys,
My boy just picked up a 2002 Jetta GLI 6 speed (sports edition). It's pretty hot-stock. He said it's got 200 horses, and he's talking all this junk like he will walk all over me. I kept my mouth shut (for the most part) because I am stock, but confident bc I got a 5 speed. All I have is a custom air filter and I don't even know if that adds any horses...2 hp? Do you think I can take him? Thanks fellas!

Ben you rock.

You will beat him unless you have no use of your right leg.

He has an auto STOCK 1.8T. You will waste him off the line and never look back. Auto maxima GXE's are fast off the line, 5spds are killer.

hmmz

It might be a pretty even race actually. Guy i work with has a 2002 GTI vr6, with a CAI,exhaust, coilovers, custom cams few other things. His car has quite the unf! he defintly kicked my *** although stock SE vs his car with the weight difference, was pretty grim to begin with, plus im an auto, god forgive me for the day i decided to go with an auto! the jetta is defintly closer in weight to the maxima, so its either going to be a pretty close race and will come down to the driver. Those ****en german engines never quit.

I think i'll be a driver's race.. I mean, he has 200 hp, you have 190, and you are both stick, so its gonna come down to the driver. Don't think VW's are all that, they're nice cars, but they're not a freakin Porsche or something.

even though the VR6's aren't turbo, they will sure as heck beat a GXE in the 1/4. sorry man but if you don't have a 5-speed.....then GET ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

will the race be from a stop or from a roll? If its from a roll, manually shift it and redline your 1st, and then do the honking sequence.......upshift - u win
