I do not and I hate the way my car brakes. I still have the stock brakes.

I want to use this thread to compare ABS vs. non-ABS and also state which pads you are using.

My '99 Maxima has standard (non-ABS) brakes. It is still running on the factory-installed brake pads. I am completely satisfied with the brakes on this car.

I have ABS

I've never driven a car without ABS, but I really like em, braking is smooth.

No ABS. and original pads.....

96se. Stops fine with no pulling or lockup. I flush and bleed the brake fluid at least every two years at a maximum
to hopefully prevent moisture damage.

ABS and factory pads still at 59k

Not much to comment about.
Have not had any problems or performance issues.

Anybody want to comment on how aftermarket pads "feel" or "perform" versus EOM?

Non ABS, stock pads

I love my braking power. I think I'd just go as far to replace the pads with a set of axxis and possibly get the stainless steel lines. My Maxima is the best stopping car I own, with the exception of my Accord, it's the only other one with power brakes.

longer stopping distance...

ABS brakes have potentially a longer stopping distance on dry pavement. Anyone who's good at modulating the pedal and threshold braking doesn't need it.

My 99's brakes blow away the brakes on my 93gxe I had for six years. I have non-ABS brakes. I've never seen the need for ABS personally, but I live down south and we just don't get snow or ice down here.

I have a 96 SE with ABS and stock pads. I agree with CFster about decreased braking distance in the dry, but you have to be pretty good with the pedal if you want to get maximum breaking power AND steer at the same time. And it's even harder to do this in rain/snow/ice.

After all, any monkey can stomp on the brake pedal with ABS, but it takes talent to get maximum breaking power while not locking your tires, especially in an emergency.

96 SE with non-ABS and stock pads after 60000 miles. The pads still have ton of like left, but I am gonna get some Axxis pads.

I like not having ABS because I know how expensive it is to fix. I have no problems modulating the brakes in the snow if needed. Having ABS isn't necessarily a good thing to have in the snow because the ABS sometimes modulates at too quick a pace and actually slides. I experieced this numerous times in my 94 Z28 in the snow. You could feel the brakes pulsating under your foot, but the car was sliding. It amazed me because GM incorporates some of the most advanced electronics and ABS in the business.

I'm in no way saying ABS sucks, I'm just saying sometimes it can fault a good driver and do exactly what it's not suppose to.

No ABS and.....

...very glad that I don't have it. I've had 3 instances where I was able to get out of some serious wrecks by sliding the car one way or another. If you know what your doing, ABS is a joke. Otherwise, I'm sure it's helpful. My girlfriends '96 SE has'em. I'm glad her car has it.
