stillen lip help...

I just bought a used stillen lip. I remember reading that most of you attach it with screws on the side, and tape down the middle. Mine has little rivet thigies that were inserted into screwed holes in the middle of the bumper. Is that the correct way of installing it? Can I take those out and just tape it on? Any other suggestions?

yes

I don't have a stillen lip myself, but i know what you mean. Sounds like the previous owner may have added some rivets in the front, to help keep it on better. I don't think it would matter if you used them or not, just scren the sides in, and tape the middle.

I dont think u should be taping N E thing that has to be exposed on the outside of ur car .. use the revits that r alrdy there.. If u want use tape as added security but dont just rely on that.. U dont wanna hit a bump and lip fals off and u run over it they u'll really be sh*t outta luck

The reason I am asking is because I don't think the rivet came with it. I think he added them extra. I don't want to drill too many holes in the bumper thats why I want to know if tape will work fine.

Actually you should use double sided tape along with the screws. This makes it stick to the bumper better and looks like it is part of the bumper and not just an add on.
Good Luck,
Paul

rivets are used sometimes for extra hold but the tape WILL work .
adhesion promoters might help a little if you apply it to the body first and what not.
this lip fits real snug so you shouldnt have a problem with it falling off. however it has happened to some people but i forget the stories

How do you put rivets in the front without it showing?

If you fit the lip to your front bumper, you should notice that it fit's really snug. By using tape along the front, you are just adding support. Using tape in front and screws in the wheel wells, you'll notice that there isn't much room for that thing to go anywhere. You shouldn't "need" rivets.

Is the Stillen front lip the same thing as the front piece for the body kit?

I have a 95-96 front lip. I heard the 97-99 front lip fits really snug. My problem is with a 96 lip.

I have a 96 also. There's not a whole lot of room for rivets or even screws so double sided tape all around with screws in the fenders works fine.

Didn't work that good for me. I was trying to see if anyone else had the problem and how they fixed it.

You could always go with a more permanent fix. Epoxy or something along those lines.
