How many of you have over 140k miles and still mod your car?
How many of you have over 140k miles and still mod your car?
just wondering..
I'm considering maybe looking for a higher milage car.. but I'm estimating around 20-25k miles a year for the next 2-3 years so I don't know if it's worth it or not...
Yea yea, I know.. Maximas will last 20034663456432k easily..
I don't question the engine reliability, but wondering what else can be wrong.. and if it's worth it at all..
anyone?

I am...
I have 130k miles on my car and I just started modding it. I know the engines are strong so I am not too scared of any damage. If that even occurs I want to totally overhaul the engine.
Anyways, you can mod the Maxima for as long and as many miles you want to. Its definitely not a waste of money. Good luck man.

my current max has 69k miles and it drives like new. But I'm going to be looking for another one very soon and considering a higher milage one, since it will be a good deal cheaper...
I have 165,000 miles on my Max. I'm about to pay $900 dollars for the rebuild my transmission needed. I have considered a S/C as well, but lack the necessary funds. My car runs really good though. I say, mod away!
I have a 95 GLE with 165k. I started modding at around 150k. So far I have: PR CAI, Walbro 255 pump, 1 step colder plugs, VB mod, WS Y, custom cat back, comptech muffler, 5124 NOS kit running @ 70 shot.
In the next few weeks, I am going to install possibly a SARD FPR (if I can ever find where to get one), maybe going with a slightly bigger exhaust setup, and going 125 shot direct port.
To answer your question, I have no problems so far and have no reason to think that higher milage on my car is a big issue. So, mod away I say.

I started modding mine at 100k, after owning it since new (I had no idea there were parts available until I stumbled upon this site). At this point, I still get looks of disbelief from people when they hear my car is 8 years old (no repaint either). Once I get my suspension upgrade complete (it was time to do it and worth a few extra $$ for KYB/H&R) I will see how much better it is... If I really like the improvement, I'm keeping this baby for at least another 4 years.
If you're in the market to get an old Maxima, I highly recommend spending extra money for one that is mint and taken care of. Structural repairs and driving abuse is not worth taking a chance on. Maximas hold up very well though. I don't drive mine hard and... well, don't want to admit it but I skipped the 60k servicing (except for oil changes and coolant flushing). No problems or unusual wear noted at the 90k full servicing. So, this car really stands strong. I'd take a Maxima over an Accord (my second choice for dependability).

This thread seems familiar... i dunno it felt as if i've read/replied to this thread before...
Anywho! I've got about 136k on my car right now... it's got all that i have listed in my sig and i swear the car runs JUST AS GREAT as if were brand new. I am hoping to put in a Y-pipe soon... and then i think i'm done w/ my modding lol... can't think of anything else that would give me any significant gain... except nitrous or SC... which is outta my price range

My car has 120k miles. Had it since mile 5. It depends on what kind of "mod" you wanna do to determine if they're worth it or not. For cosmetic mods such as clear corners/tails, wheels, bodykits, it dont matter how many miles the car has.
For performance mods, well, that depends. If you KNOW you gonna be driving your car for next 5 years until it reaches 250k, then mod all you want. It used to be our only intake options were either stillen or PRCAI, and they were expensive as shiat. But now you can pickup a berk intake or a frankencar for $100 and a change. So what if your car has 140k miles, go ahead and get the intake if you wanna get it. It's cheap and its quality.
I'm gonna drive my max until 300k and receive an award from nissan.

i love this thread.. and seeing how calm and confident people are in their cars with such milage where a good deal of domestics would need heavy repairs and would be falling apart by then....
very nice
I'll be looking at higher milage cars.. i will need this car all through the remainder of college and probably then some, meaning next 2+ years where i will rack up 20k-25k miles a year... but i need a reliable car as well.
