Three Quick Shock Questions
Three Quick Shock Questions
- I'll be installing some Eibach Springs and new shocks within the next few months, but I'm still undecided on exactly which shocks to go with. (I am aware of the fact that the Koni's are a pain to install and that the rears have to be removed to be adjusted.) The car is autocrossed, so overall I am looking for performance over comfort. Here are the questions:
1. Has anyone had any problems with their KYB-AGX's? I have heard nasty rumors that, in the old days, their ride quality would degrade over time.
2. I couldn't find anything on Bilstein shocks - do they still not make any for us?
3. Does anyone know of a good place to buy Koni's? The best price I found for a set of four was $540 at www.stranoparts.com
- Thanks for your input.

Re: Three Quick Shock Questions
buy the agx. I just installed them last week with eibachs and they were cool. easy install. Konis just seem like a real pain. I wish bilstein made shocks cause that would be my number one choice. I haven't heard any negative feedback on the agx yet. if you do a search you can find this guy named in nick bauer at Foreign Carparts and you can get a good deal on KYBS. Also try to read up as much as you can on the install....look for threads that njmaxltd, lime, ravq and me (95 maximase)...oh and Kevin have contributed to and you my find some install pearls.

- Whoops. Sorry. StranoParts actually has the Koni's for $518 plus shipping. They also have the HKS muffler for $359, which beats Stillen by a good $18.00. And, they also have KYB-AGX's for $328.24 plus shipping, which beats Cattman's price by a full $51.76!!!
- I would really recommend that you all take a look at this site. I haven't bought anything off of them yet, but Sam Strano is a well-known autocrosser, so he seems to be looking out for his fellow enthusiasts by way of killer prices.

Kevin - I was wondering if you would accept 300 for your tokicos w/ eibach springs. I'm also located in NJ so there wouldn't be any need for shipping. I'm central (martinsville, bridgewater, somerville area). Let me know.

Kev - oh sorry, was just reading through some old posts and realized you sold your springs. Oh well, i'm looking to buy a set (springs struts) from someone together. thanks anyway. In any case, if for some reason you haven't sold the springs yet then let me know.

Koni's for $350?

- $350 for Koni's!? Can you tell me how to get in touch with Nick Bauer? Is he a business, a person, or both?
- I'm still hesitant about the KYB's... no one at the national level wins with those shocks. I'm sure that they are awesome on the street and that the ease of adjustment would be fun... but I just don't think that they'll be as competitive as I'll need them to be. Plus, you can't get them revalved as easily as you can with Koni's. Also, Koni's have contingency money and prizes at the big events. I think that I'll just bite the bullet and get them, especially if I can find them for such a great price.
- Thank you again for all of your help.
