how long do OEM springs last?

i've been having this noise in the back of my car and i think it's coming from the wheels...well today i was driving and the noise started up, so i stopped and got out the car to take a look, didn't see anything but i pushed down on the back of my car and sure nuff the noise was there...i'm thinking it's the springs?? how would i know if the springs are bad?

BTW, i have a 99 with 36k miles

i was thinkning that too...but i dont know how bad springs or blown struts feel or sound. but the weird thing is, it only makes noises when i go over bumps. once i'm on smoothe road again, then the noise goes away
